After three weeks of roadtriping I'm finally headed to Alaska tonight!
Here are the roadtrip highlights:
I spent a few days at the beach in Mexico with James, my Aunt Becky, and my Uncle Ray
James flew out of Tucson, and me, Callie, and Josh drove to San Diego where we spent a couple of days on the beach. Then we spent two nights in San Francisco, where we saw an awesome bluegrass band called Sassparilla.
Josh drove on to Seattle and Callie and I drove to Portland, where people were the nicest of any place I've been. We went to parties, barbecues, bars, and even gas stations and consistently found the most interesting, friendly, generous people. This is at Multnomah Falls just outside of town, with the guy we stayed with
Spent a day in Seattle, and then took the ferry to Lopez Island in the San Juan islands to stay with Josh's friend who is building a cob house. Callie and I went on a sunset kayak trip out from the island, and when it got really windy she held up a sail from the front of the kayak to sail us back home.
We took the ferry back to mainland Washington and drove to Bellingham, did some hiking, sat by the water, rode through a beautiful bike trail and braved hoards of college students at the bars.
We're back in Seattle, and tonight we leave the cars behind and fly in Anchorage! James will meet me there tonight, and we will be there until the end of September.
