Last Year....
New Years Eve, met James. (played twister, drank absinthe, talked all night, went to waffle house, camped at bratton green.)
January, slept on the couches of my lovely friends and worked again in New York City. (got paid for nothing, tried to meditate at the zendo, and attempted grappling (Ju Jitzu) classes.. mostly to impress James)
March, spent a month as a volunteer on the Gulf Coast and in New Orleans. (gutted houses; tutored kids; waded in the bayou; cooked breakfast drunk at 4am for hundreds of volunteers; slept in an abandoned school, a baseball field, and a church conference room; and made amazing life-long friends)
Tried to drive cross-country, and totaled my car in Arkansas. (enough said)
Took the train with James across the country's southern border. (we thought we wouldn't see each other again for 5 months, so made mix cds and played cards and wrote stories, and soaked in every damn cactus that we passed for all it was worth)
We went to the beach in Mexico with my crazy Aunt (who sings Kanye West at full volume every time she crosses the border, among other quirks)
Rode in the back seat of a friend's car up the west coast from Tucson to Seattle. (hung out in San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, and the San Juan Islands)
Spent an insane summer working in Alaska. (met grizzly bears, had territory battles with moose, rafted class 5 rapids, mountain biked on trails that were way over my head, soaked in 20 hours of sunlight on the summer solstice, and made thousands of sandwiches and cookies for fisherman tourist guys)
Moved to North Carolina, got a house with James and Katie (the cat), and became a high school teacher.

Flash back, New Years Eve last year, James and I are just meeting. Flash forward, New Years Eve this year, and we've done all of this crazy shit, and we live together in Asheville.

Flash forward to March. How many states is that? There's no way in hell I'm going to be able to do my own taxes this year!
