This past Thursday we bid a sad farewell to our beloved cat
Bogie, he was without question the best cat we ever had and was a great friend. I got him back in 1990 from a co-worker who had decided he and his wife wanted cats but didn't like kittens, he asked me to take Bogie and his sister Bacall to raise for a few month and then give them back after they grew out of being kittens. I told him I would take them but it would be very unlikely he would get them back, the rest as they say is history, 17 years worth to be exact which means that cat has lived with me longer than my wife, in fact, I think I only have two human friends that I have known longer than I've had him.
He had more personality/attitude than most people I've known, and was a champion mouser, I once even saw him jump 6 feet into the air to take a barn swallow in mid flight. Of course the past couple years he had slowed down a lot and some wild life had started to return to the yard. With the coming of this winter he seemed increasingly tired spending most of the time laying on a soft towel next to me on my desk, sleeping and purring until Thursday, when he climbed onto the floor, curled up by my feet and quietly slipped away. He'll be soarly missed but I do take great comfort in knowing that he had a long and happy life.
