Part 1

For the next two weeks, Luke and Reid fucked a lot.

Every day.

In Reid’s office on a night that Reid had to stay over to monitor a patient-Luke had ended up bent over Reid’s desk while Reid pushed into him from behind. In the men’s room again, though this time they both came from rubbing against each other only as there wasn’t room for much movement inside the stall. In Reid’s car after Reid offered to drive Luke home-Luke’s car had been stalling lately-where Luke found himself in the backseat with his ass in the air as Reid slammed into him hard and fast.

But mostly, they did it in Reid’s house-which had once been Reid and Luke’s house before the fight and before Luke left and moved back in with his family-with no expectations and a simple rule to not spend the night together. They both agreed on that because they knew that if they spent more time together than was necessary to fuck and come, then their issues would resurface, which would force them to talk, argue, fight and all the rest that Luke and Reid had avoided in the past month and a half.

They were comfortable with their situation, both physically enjoying each other as much as they once had without emotionally involving themselves in one another’s lives.

Until one night.

Reid had just finished dinner-take-out, as always-when Luke arrived.

“Did your car make it okay?” Reid asked, closing the door and walking to the bedroom.

“Yeah, today, anyway,” Luke replied, following Reid. “I’m going to take it into the shop; just haven’t had the chance yet.”

Once in the bedroom, Luke, already used to the drill, undressed and got on the bed while Reid retrieved the bottle of lubricant and climbed on top of Luke, settling in between his legs.

They kissed for a few seconds before Reid pulled back slightly. “Hey, listen, we’re not going to be able to get together tomorrow. I have a late surgery and then I have meetings all day so you can’t even stop by for a quickie,” Reid said, caressing Luke’s hair as he talked.

“That’s okay,” Luke said. “This is good, actually, because I was going to tell you that I also can’t meet tomorrow.”

Reid looked curiously at Luke. In the two weeks that they’d been seeing each other, neither had backed out of a meeting yet.

“Why not?”

“I have plans.”

“With your family?”

Luke looked at Reid’s mouth to avoid his questioning eyes.

“No,” he replied, running a finger down Reid’s bare stomach.

Reid pushed his hand away and grabbed Luke’s chin, forcing Luke to look at him. “A date?”

“Yes.”

“Who is he?” Reid asked, trying to calm his rapidly beating heart.

Luke, pulling Reid’s hand away from his face, shook his head. “I’m not telling you. It’s none of your business. Don’t you remember that when we agreed to do this, we said that we weren’t bringing anything but our bodies in here-nothing about work or our personal lives?”

Reid got off Luke and sat on the bed. “All right, then let’s stop this.”

Luke grabbed Reid’s arm. “What? Why?”

“You’re dating someone now.”

“Dating?” Luke chuckled. “We’re barely having our very first date. Who knows if we’re going to go beyond tomorrow night? And what we have going on here has nothing to do with what we have when we’re out there.”

“This is not like you, Luke,” Reid said.

“Oh, and you know what I’m like all of a sudden? After months of not listening to my feelings or needs or-”

Reid rubbed his eyes. “Don’t start, Luke.”

“Then let’s drop it.”

Reid stared at the floor.

Luke moved to stand. “You know what? Maybe we should stop this. If you’re gonna get all upset, then we shouldn’t do this anymore.”

“Luke, wait,” Reid said, holding Luke’s arm. “If you still want to, then I do too.”

“But why are you so upset?”

Reid shrugged. “I don’t know. But let’s do this; let’s continue it.”

Luke exhaled in relief. He knew he had threatened to leave but he really hadn’t wanted to. He scooted back on the bed.

“Who is he?”

Luke sighed. “We’re working on a project on medical services with the foundation.”

“Sounds familiar,” Reid said with a smirk. “Is he a doctor?”

“A dentist,” Luke replied, staring at the bedspread.

Reid laughed. “Wow, you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel.”

“Reid, he’s a nice guy. He-”

“Shut up, no more talking,” Reid said as he forced Luke on his back. He opened Luke’s legs and pushed them to his chest. “Here, hold onto them.”

Luke held his legs by the knees as Reid lubricated his cock and shoved it inside Luke. Reid thrust with his cock while he sucked on Luke’s neck with his mouth. Luke’s moans of pleasure spurred Reid to suck faster.

“Reid, Reid,” Luke cried out as Reid pushed roughly inside him though Luke didn’t want him to stop. It was only after he felt Reid’s teeth on his neck that Luke pressed his hands against Reid’s chest to make him stop. “Ow, Reid!”

Reid stopped thrusting and looked down at Luke. “What?”

“Get off me, now,” Luke demanded as he tried sitting up.

Reid reluctantly pulled out and sat back. “What?”

Luke held a hand to his neck where a purple bruise was slowly forming. “Why’d you do that?”

“Hey, we never established any rules as to what we could or couldn’t do.”

“But you shouldn’t have done it. How am I going to hide this? What if Ryan sees it tomorrow? What is he gonna think?” Luke said angrily, frantically rubbing his neck.

Reid smirked. “You’re only making it worse.”

“Jerk,” Luke said, glaring at Reid as he got off the bed and quickly dressed.

“See you later,” Reid said with a wave as Luke angrily slammed the door behind him.

“That sounds amazing.”

“It was. It’s a beautiful place to visit. You should definitely go there sometime,” Dr. Ryan Allen said as he smiled at Luke across the table. “Where have you been?”

Luke shook his head. “I don’t travel much. I always wanted to but it, um, it never happened.”

“Well, you know, maybe one day,” Ryan said, still smiling.

Luke nodded. He was surprised that he was having a nice time so far with Ryan. He’d known him only a week, but he knew Ryan had been attracted to him from the first day they met. Luke thought Ryan was attractive-he was thirty with a toothpaste ad smile and large green eyes that listened to everything-but he wasn’t attracted to him yet. Luke was hoping their first date could change that.

“So, about the project, I-”

“Really, Luke, you want to talk about work? I thought this was our time to get to know each other,” Ryan said, reaching over and covering Luke’s hand with his.

Luke blushed and smiled. “What do you want to know?”

Before Ryan could respond, their waiter appeared at the table with two glasses of white wine. “From the man over there,” he said, pointing to Reid, who sat in a corner table and waved.

Luke stared as Reid walked to their table.

Reid extended a hand to Ryan. “Dr. Reid Oliver-yes, the famous neurosurgeon and current Chief of Staff at Oakdale Memorial, home of one of the top three neurological centers in the country. And you are a . . . dentist?”

Ryan nodded and shook Reid’s hand. “Ryan Allen.”

“Nice to meet you, tooth fairy-uh, I mean, tooth doctor,” Reid said, grinning at the two men.

“Reid, what are you doing here?” asked Luke.

“It’s a restaurant; I came to play poker,” Reid said, laughing as he rolled his eyes. “So, did you two enjoy the wine?” Reid hit his forehead. “Oh, shit, I’m sorry, Luke, I forgot that you don’t drink.” He looked at Ryan and nodded his head toward Luke. “He’s an alcoholic.”

“Recovering,” Luke said quickly, his eyes narrowed as he looked at Reid.

Reid leaned down to touch Luke’s shirt collar, exposing the hickey on Luke’s neck. “Oh, wow, Luke, what do you have there?”

Luke batted his hand away. “Reid.”

“That looks like a . . . okay, Luke, what were you up to last night or this morning?” Reid turned to Ryan and winked. “You two already getting busy?”

Ryan, his eyes on Luke’s neck, shook his head.

“Just a mosquito bite,” Luke said, forcing a chuckle as he looked at Ryan. He then glared at Reid. “Don’t you have to go eat or something?”

Reid stared at Luke before answering. “Nah, they don’t have what I want. Someone ordered the last piece.”

“There are a lot of other good things on the menu,” Ryan said.

“No, I know what I like and what I want and it’s not on the menu anymore,” Reid said, still staring at Luke.

Luke looked down at his plate.

Reid cleared his throat. “Well, I should get going. You two gentlemen enjoy the rest of your date,” Reid said, smiling at Ryan before walking away.

“Why’d you do that?”

The front door slamming behind Luke startled Reid, causing him to spill some beer onto his shirt. He set the bottle on the coffee table and stood to face an angry Luke.

“Wow, you don’t even knock?”

“I still have the key,” Luke replied, his hands on his hips as he walked closer to Reid. “So what the hell was that?”

“What?”

“Don’t act dumb. Why did you try to ruin my date?”

Reid snorted. “Oh, get over yourself, Snyder. Not everything I do has to do with you. I was hungry and it’s not my fault we live in such a small town that we’re bound to run into each other at the same restaurant.”

“Run into each other? I think you followed me and you were spying on me and trying to screw things up for me and Ryan,” Luke said.

Reid laughed. “You’re not all that.” He turned around but Luke was right there in his face.

“You did it on purpose.”

“Look, don’t blame me if your date was a bust.”

“It wasn’t. It was actually very nice. He’s a nice guy,” Luke said.

“How nice,” Reid replied.

“Admit it. Admit that you tried to mess things up on purpose.”

“No.” Reid turned off the TV and walked to the bedroom. “I’m going to sleep.”

In the bedroom, Luke walked up to Reid and pushed him onto the bed.

Reid immediately turned over. “What the hell?”

Luke placed his face inches away from Reid’s. “Tell me that you did it on purpose.”

Reid grinned mischievously and shook his head.

Luke unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off himself. His hands unfastened Reid’s pajama pants and removed them off him completely, along with his boxer shorts. Luke grabbed Reid’s cock, which turned rock hard under Luke’s touch, and ran his hand up and down. Reid opened his legs wider. Luke, who was standing in front of Reid and the bed, leaned down to swipe his tongue along the length of Reid’s cock.

Reid hissed at the contact.

“Are you ready to admit it?’ Luke asked as he stroked Reid.

“No.”

Luke removed his hand from Reid. Reid tried to touch himself but Luke hit both his hands. “Nope.”

Reid groaned in frustration while he watched Luke get naked. Luke fell on top of Reid and kissed him intensely. “Not yet?” he asked after parting.

“I have nothing to admit,” Reid said.

Luke moved up to pull the shirt off of Reid and flipped Reid over onto his stomach. He slapped the side of Reid’s ass. “Up. On your knees.”

Reid obeyed Luke. Luke kneeled behind Reid and spit on Reid’s opening and his own hand to prepare his cock. Reid held on to the sheets as Luke entered him and immediately began thrusting.

“Fuck,” Reid cried out as he touched his cock. His hand was there only a second before Luke grabbed both of Reid’s hands and pulled them behind him. Reid, still on his knees, fell face forward onto the mattress while his ass was being held by Luke, who pushed harder into him. “Touch me, Luke.”

Luke, pulling on Reid’s hands as he held thrust faster, asked, “Are you ready to admit what you did?”

Reid, his voice muffled against the bed, shook his head. “I didn’t do anything.”

Luke pushed Reid flat on his stomach and opened his legs wider. He kept thrusting as he laid his body on top of Reid.

Reid came with a shudder as the friction of the mattress against his cock brought him to a climax.

Luke grabbed Reid’s shoulders for support as he shoved himself into Reid as deep as he could and came with a muffled cry against Reid’s back.

“I knew where you were going,” Reid whispered. “I went there to ruin your date on purpose.”

Luke, slightly trembling with the aftershock of his intense orgasm, closed his eyes. “Why?”

“I don’t know.”

Luke pulled out of Reid and sat up. He slowly stood and began dressing.

Reid sat up. “Are you going to see him again?”

Luke nodded. He buttoned his shirt and looked at Reid. “Unless you don’t want me to.”

Their eyes locked onto each other. They both knew what they wanted to hear.

“I don’t tell you what to do, Luke. We’re not together anymore, remember?”

Luke swallowed and nodded. He ran a hand through his hair and walked to the bedroom door before turning back. “Can I see you tomorrow?”

Reid managed a small smile. “I’ll be here.”

For the next week, they resumed their sexual rendezvous at Reid’s place. Reid was curious about the other man in Luke’s life, whom he knew Luke saw every day, but he didn’t ask.

Until he couldn’t not ask any longer.

“How are things with the tooth fairy?”

Luke moved away from Reid and stared at the ceiling. “I don’t want to talk about him.”

“Why not?” Reid asked, lying on his side and looking at Luke.

“Because he’s none of your business.”

“He is.”

“Reid,” Luke warned.

“I’m fucking his boyfriend. I think that makes him my business,” Reid responded.

Luke faced Reid. “Do you want to stop fucking Dr. Allen’s boyfriend?”

Reid narrowed his eyes. “Don’t call him that. He’s not a doctor; he’s a dentist.”

Luke rolled his eyes and sat up.

“Where are you going?” asked Reid, touching Luke’s arm.

Luke began putting on his socks. “I’m meeting Dr. Allen for dinner.”

“Right now?”

“He was busy all day,” Luke said, putting on his pants.

“Oh, yeah, I forgot all about the life-threatening tooth decay accidents that probably occur every day,” Reid said sarcastically.

Luke said nothing.

“My cum hasn’t even dried in your ass and you’re going to meet your boyfriend right now, seriously?”

Luke sighed. “That’s something we have to talk about.” He looked at Reid. “I think we should start wearing condoms.”

“I’m not sleeping with-you’re, you’re fucking him?” Reid sat on the bed and glared at Luke.

“No.”

“Yet.”

“We’re not together anymore,” Luke explained. “I just want us to be safe.”

“To fuck other people.”

“That’s not what I meant,” Luke shot back.

“You waited years to fuck what’s-his-face and me and you waited months but you’re ready to give it to the tooth fairy after two weeks?”

Luke shook his head. “This has got to stop. I can’t deal with this anymore, Reid. You’re getting upset with me even though we both agreed not to bring any feelings into this.”

Reid stood and quickly put on his pants. “That’s before you started acting like a cold-hearted bastard, which is not like you, Luke.”

“You don’t even know me anymore, Reid.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“You checked out of our relationship a long time ago when you stopped listening to me and asking me about me. You hardly talked to me anymore and you didn’t ask me how I was feeling or what I wanted,” Luke said quietly.

“Luke, if this is about the trip-”

“It wasn’t just the trip, Reid. It was about a lot more than that,” Luke said, slowly rubbing his eyes. He shook his head. “This was a bad idea. I’m sorry.”

“Luke, wait,” Reid said, taking hold of Luke’s hand.

Luke pushed Reid’s hand away. “I can’t, Reid, not anymore.” He turned and walked out.

Luke and Reid didn’t talk for the next two days. It was only after Reid thought about what Luke had said and about the way things had been between them in the final months of their relationship that Reid called Luke. He also missed him a lot.

“Reid?”

“I should’ve remembered. I should’ve remembered the dates. I should’ve asked for the time off and I should’ve been there with you on that plane.”

Luke remained silent on the other end.

“I never hid the fact that I was probably always going to be working from you. And I always told you how much I loved working, but you deserved to have me too,” Reid continued.

“I never wanted to compete with your job. I know being a doctor is the most important thing to you,” Luke said.

“But it’s not, Luke.”

“You said that it was.”

Reid bit his lip.

Luke had planned the trip to Hawaii for three months, ever since Lily and Holden Snyder had returned and gushed about all the fun they’d had. Reid and Luke had both been working too much, not talking a lot, and certainly not spending as much time together as they once had, so Luke was hoping a vacation would help rejuvenate their relationship. Reid and Luke, as much as they liked to talk about it, never traveled much. Once Reid became Chief of Staff, there wasn’t much free time for vacations.

But Reid agreed to the trip as long as it didn’t interfere with his schedule at the hospital. Luke, as stubborn as ever, had selected the dates on his own, figuring Reid-as boss-would be able to request any days that he needed for the trip.

Two weeks before, Luke reminded Reid about their upcoming vacation. Reid, suddenly not remembering anything about it, argued that he wouldn’t be able to take the time off.

“Why the hell not?” Luke had asked.

“Because I can’t reschedule the dates on which my patients’ brain tumors will grow the way you could reschedule this trip if you wanted,” Reid had replied.

“It’s just one week that I’m asking for, Reid.”

“No, Luke, I can’t do it.”

“I already planned and paid for everything. I’m not cancelling it.”

“Then have fun on your own.”

“Please, Reid, for me.”

Reid shook his head. “My patients come first, Luke.”

In the end, Luke had asked Reid one last time to go with him, telling him to meet him at the airport or he was leaving Reid for good. Reid, used to Luke’s dramatic tendencies, didn’t believe in the ultimatum. Luke, still not willing to give it all up, called Reid from Hawaii and said that he’d wait for him and begged him to go. That changed Reid’s mind-he hated hearing Luke sound so desperate. But then an emergency occurred at the hospital and Reid never made it to Hawaii. Luke returned two days later, packed his things, and left.

“I was upset. You know how I get, but I didn’t mean it.”

“I waited for you.”

“I’m sorry, Luke. I’m so sorry,” Reid said.

“That’s the first time you apologize for it,” Luke said in a whisper.

“I mean it, Luke.” And he did.

“Thanks. And I’m sorry, too, for a lot of things,” Luke said.

Reid scratched his head. “Listen, do you want to maybe get together later?”

“We’re not doing that anymore, Reid.”

“That’s not what I meant. We could just talk some more. What do you say?”

“I’m meeting Ryan tonight,” Luke said.

“Can’t you reschedule?” Reid asked with a small laugh.

“It’s kind of an important night,” Luke said quietly.

“Oh.” Reid knew what that meant. “Well, have fun, but be careful, Luke.”

“I will. Bye, Reid.”

“Bye, Luke.”

That evening, Reid paced the living room, trying not to think about Luke and the wannabe doctor. Reid knew it was all over between him and Luke, but it wasn’t easy accepting that truth. And it definitely wasn’t easy trying not to imagine Luke being touched by that guy who couldn’t mean as much to Luke as Reid had. Reid balled his hands into fists as he thought of the dentist’s hands on Luke, his mouth on Luke’s neck, his cock in Luke’s ass.

Reid grabbed his keys and headed out. He needed to get Luke Snyder out of his mind.

“This is it,” Ryan said as he led Luke into his bedroom.

Luke nodded and smiled. “Nice.”

Ryan smiled back. “I like it.” He walked to Luke and held his hands in his. “I like you.”

Luke looked at Ryan’s lips and tried to will his mind to want that and to want to feel Ryan on top of him and inside him. He needed Ryan to make him forget everything that he wanted to forget. He needed Ryan to forget Reid.

Ryan kissed Luke and slowly walked them both backwards to the bed, where he pushed Luke down. His hands unbuckled Luke’s pants and lowered them.

Ryan, Ryan, Ryan, Luke chanted in his mind. Not Reid, not Reid, not Reid.

Ryan pulled his shirt over his head and looked down at Luke. His right hand touched Luke’s lips and traveled down to his crotch, where he began massaging Luke’s cock through his boxers.

Luke shut his eyes tightly at the sensation. “Ryan,” he whispered. Reid, his mind screamed.

He didn’t want to forget Reid, Luke realized. He sat up and pushed Ryan’s hand away. “I’m sorry. I can’t do this. I-”

Ryan held up a hand. “Don’t tell me. Let me think that you have so many issues and don’t want to hurt me. But don’t tell me there’s someone else.”

“It’s not you, really. It is me. I have issues-a lot of them.”

Ryan sighed.

Luke stood and pulled his pants up. He looked at Ryan. “You’re a nice guy.”

“But a dentist,” Ryan said, sitting on the bed.

“I’m sorry.” Luke walked to the door and glanced back. “Bye, Ryan.”

“Bye, Luke.”

Reid pressed his body against the blond guy, who grinded his ass into Reid’s crotch, as they swayed to the loud music. Since becoming a couple with Luke, Reid had not visited the gay club on the outskirts of Oakdale, and he had been grateful. Reid had never been the social type. Truthfully, he had never had trouble hooking up with men before Luke, but that was when he’d been younger. At forty, Reid still had his looks and his body, but other men-younger men-now noticed his age and maturity and weren’t too eager to “hit” him, as the younger generation would say.

He was still amazed that Luke, at twenty-six, had had no problem being with him when he really could’ve had any guy that he wanted.

But that was over and tonight he was just glad that this smiley, blond man in front of him-who couldn’t be a day over twenty-two-was clearly eager to go home with him. The blond man, who’d called himself Robbie, turned around and wrapped his arms around Reid’s waist. He kissed Reid hard and messy and dirty, and Reid kissed back. He needed Robbie to forget Luke.

“Stop the car.”

Robbie pulled the car to the side, and Reid immediately got out.

“Luke!”

Luke turned around. “Reid? What are you doing here?”

“What are you doing walking all by yourself at night? Where’s the tooth-where’s Ryan?”

“At his place.”

“Why aren’t you with him? Did he do something to you?” Reid asked, reaching out for Luke before stopping himself.

“No, we broke up and I left and then my car stalled and I can’t get a signal on my phone,” Luke explained. “Such a crappy night.”

Reid stared at Luke.

“Who’s that?” Luke asked, pointing to the car. In the dark, Luke could only see a figure behind the wheel.

Reid kept his gaze on Luke. “That’s Robbie. We’re heading to his place.”

“Oh.”

“Do you want a ride?”

Luke quickly shook his head. “I don’t think your date would like to drive your ex home.”

“He’s not my date. He’s-look, get in the car. It’s no problem,” Reid said, leading Luke to the car.

“If you say so.”

Robbie didn’t mind driving Luke since he didn’t know who Luke was. At the Snyders,’ Luke got out of the backseat and thanked Reid and Robbie.

“See you later, Reid. And be careful,” Luke said with a small smile.

“I will,” Reid said, trying to smile back. He watched Luke disappear into his house.

“Ready to go?” asked Robbie.

Reid looked over at him. “Yup.”

Luke quietly walked inside the house as he made his way to the stairs, careful not to wake anyone up.

A loud knock, though, caused him to jump and bang his knee on the sofa. “Shit!”

He cautiously opened the door to find Reid waiting for him.

“Reid, what are you doing here?”

Reid walked inside and closed the door behind him. The living room was dark, but the moonlight peeking through the window illuminated both his and Luke’s faces.

“Why did you break up with Ryan?” asked Reid.

“You know why.”

“Did you two . . .?”

“No, of course not. What happened to Robbie?”

“He’s going home alone,” Reid said.

“Did you and him do anything?” asked Luke.

“No.”

“Why not?”

“You know why,” Reid said.

“Reid, there are still so many things we need to talk about and-”

“I know, Luke, but we can try. I know I want to try. I want to fix things. Do you?”

Luke sighed. “It just gets so hard sometimes.”

“But it’s harder not being together, don’t you think? These last weeks that we’ve been, you know, made me realize how much I missed you and need you and I hated that I only had a bit of you, though I was willing to accept that if that was all I could get. But now, I know I don’t just want a little of you; I want all of you, Luke.”

Luke smiled. “I want all of you, too, Reid.”

Reid leaned forward and kissed Luke. “Let’s go home. I want to fuck you with feelings.”

Luke laughed. “Lots and lots of feelings.” He paused. “Wait, I don’t have a car.”

“And I left my car at the club.”

Luke snapped his fingers. “I’ll borrow my dad’s.”

“No, Luke, don’t. Let’s walk. It’ll give us time to talk,” Reid suggested.

“Talk.” Luke nodded. “I like that.”

They both stepped out into the night.

Almost two months after breaking up, Reid and Luke officially reunited for good.

A/N: Yes, it was long and angsty and the guys were jerks (and maybe even OOC), but I had this idea for a while (I wanted to see both Luke and Reid acting like this for some reason) and had to put it out there. Thanks for reading!
