Edit: For the people who I tagged for the 5 weird habits thing, do you know why I tagged you? It was because I thought that we probably shared at least one strange habit (that I didn't list about myself), and I was right! heheheeee
I have to stretch a little with ndless_mike though! My clocks aren't quite that fast.

Saturday morning, I went to court to go watch arraignments as part of my humanities class "Women in the Criminal Justice System". We mostly focus on domestic violence in the class, but there is no family court at that time, so we went to criminal court. It was interesting, though not terribly exciting. We did see one DV case, where the guy was accused of hitting his wife with a bat. *shakes head* He had 2 strikes already, and his wife showed up saying she doesn't want charges filed. *sigh* We saw him telling her to tell them to release him, but this is a 3-strikes state, and he won't be released. Hopefully, the wife will get some counseling or social services will go meet her. :(
Apparently, it was a quiet day. Maybe because the weather was so cold the night before, there weren't many people in court.
I guess we stood out a lot because pretty soon after sitting down, one of the guards came up to us and asked us why we were there. The court's open for anyone, and no one else was questioned about their presence. There was another guard who kept staring at us.....
Our prof who used to be a prosecutor and whose husband is a defense attorney brought along her young son. It was funny because he knew more about the justice system than we did. ^^;
We're being shown a lot of ultrasounds for our reproductive block. A few of the women in the class go "awwww, how cuuute" when they see the babies while I'm thinking,
"wow, that looks like an alien!"
