Anime. Supernatural and Dragon Age, that is.

Quite a coincidence, but these two bits of news came out at practically the same time. First off, Warner Japan will be doing a 22 episode series that covers the first two seasons of Supernatural. They'll be teaming up with Japanese studio Madhouse and will be releasing it on Blu-ray and DVD in January 2011. More info can be found here and the Read more... )

That's what BT is for. Or youtube. Or filesharing. :D Yeah, I said I probably wasn't going to touch it, but after a discussion with Nina, my fandom conscience, I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt. She had a point that western media usually bastardizes originally Japanese movies and shows (and let's be honest, the outcome isn't usually that great). Now we'll see what it's like the other way round, may be good, who knows.

Wolverine:

Iron Man:

I'd say Iron Man looks kind of snazzy, but maybe that's only because I've never really been a fan of the original and because we don't Actually see Tony's face in the trailer.
As for Wolverine....where shall I begin? First off, he's always been one of my favourite X-men and he's got a very iconic look that you just shouldn't change. Logan is NOT a pretty boy. He's in some ways just as much animal as he is human. Plus, while the aethetics of the fight scene may look kind of pleasing, they just don't really fit the character in my opinion. It's too elegant and artsy for Wolverine. Sure, there's a minimalist elegance in Wolverine's attacks, but they're just as much about brute strength and agression. So yeah, I don't know. I'm going to stay the hell away from Wolverine, but I may actually take a look at the Iron Man anime.

And hey, I hadn't heard about Jensen's voice work, but yeah, I can't say I'm surprised. Especially since he really started doing the Batman voice thing for Dean anyway ... XD. I'm rewatching Supernatural season one at the moment and it's a world of difference, but hey, if the fans liked it better...
I think it's actually quite interesting how much darker the guys' voices got over time, it sort of matches Sam's and Dean's development. The more screwed up and desperate their lives get, the harder their voices become. Plus, the increased alcohol comsumption (especially on Dean's part) probaby did its thing, too.

Thanks for the vids! I have to agree with you about Wolverine, he has a very recognizable look and this version looks nowhere like that.

I hadn't really noticed the change in their voices until you pointed it out, but yeah, between the season 1 pilot and a season 5 ep, man that's a really huge difference.

Plus, the increased alcohol comsumption (especially on Dean's part) probaby did its thing, too.
And probably the fairly regular strangling they get when going up against demons and various other monsters, poor things

Talking about voices and the Supernatural anime, I went hunting for a Japanese dub of Supernatural. I found this hilarious vid of Sam and Dean singing "Dead Or Alive" in various languages. Yes, in Japanese too ;p
