Supernatural 5.21 - Two Minutes to Midnight

Crowley makes an appearance in the previous ep and this one to help out the Winchesters. He still believes that Lucifer will turn his attention (and not in a good way) to the demons once the humans are wiped out. I can't help but wonder if we'll ever find out if Crowley's fears are valid. Still, I can't help wondering, if Lucifer doesn't know about his prison, how can Crowley?

One of the twists of these two eps is that, although Pestilence is spreading swine flu, the actual spread of the disease isn't his main goal. Instead, the swine flu is a means to an end, allowing a demon heading a pharmaceuticals company to rush out shipments of the 'vaccine', which actually contain the Croatoan virus instead, a hint of how events in The End came to be.

How they portrayed Death was also interesting. Where life is, so there is Death, which makes him almost as old as the universe and just as all encompassing. So it would make sense that something so ancient and powerful would chafe at being used as a tool for apocalypse by a fallen angel on a tiny speck of a planet. Death simply removes his ring and passes it to Dean, and he definitely wants to see Lucifer put back in his prison.

And so everything falls into place. They have the four keys, and Sam has a plan, let Lucifer take his vessel, then wrest back control just long enough to return him to his prison. Death himself knows this is how it should go down, tells Dean point-blank that he must let Sam jump into the Pit. It's like season 3, in a way, where the show went on about how Dean couldn't be saved long before we saw him torn apart by hellhounds. So yeah, I have a bad feeling about this.
