I can ride my bike with no handlebars
I've now officially completed 2 weeks of driving. I'll admit that I've had less good days then bad days. However, I am in a new job. I can handle the away time. I just have a hard time with all the bullshit you encounter driving. Oh yes, I do have a list of states, cities, and highways I never want to go back to for one reason or another. I've become judgmental of my loads when I find out how heavy they are. Things like that.
My first week's paycheck is very disappointing as well. I know how it happened. Last week on both Monday and Friday, I had far too much down time. I hope to try to fix that this coming week.
I've talked to a lot of different drivers with my company. They find out that I've been there a short time and they all want to give their 2 cents. Its ok. Good to learn better routes and how to handle certain situations.
Problem right now is, I need to get my hazmat by the end of next month or I lose my job. I haven't gotten it started. I really need to do that but I haven't had the money to do it. The government wants me to pay out $90 to have them do a full background check on me to make sure I'm not a terrorist. It'll take 2 weeks or so to do the check and I still have to pass the test saying I understand the rules when it comes to dealing with hazmat stuff. Thats easy though. I should have done that during my week off, but I didn't.
So, other than all of that, my personal life is pretty uneventful. Nothing to state. This weekend will be the first time in around 8 or more years that I haven't attended Marcon. I really just can't convince myself that its something I want to do. I guess it finally died in me. I dunno. I can't afford it anyways. Not that that has stopped me in the past, just saying.
I do get a full weekend though. I'm not expected at my next drop point til tuesday morning. So I won't be leaving til Monday night at some point. Good times there. I hope I find something interesting to occupy my weekend.
on a side note, if anyone wants to buy me a half way decent CB, that'd be great, because I've found that they would make my life a lot easier :P
