Happy Boxing Day!

Dec 26, 2005 19:40

I always expected a boxing match on the day after Christmas when I was a kid, and I never understood why there was only ever Cricket on... In my teen years, I learned what the boxing really referred to. Heh heh heh.

Oh boy, yesterday, I had so much good food and opened lovely presents.
Christmas was pleasant, despite one or two tense moments when my stamina was required by Ma but found wanting. Delicious turkey, pork and ham, lovely sherry log (also known as Chocolate Ripple Cake) and brilliant potato salad, among other delicacies were enjoyed immensely. I'm sure my belly is gonna pop and that I will have gained five thousand kilograms by Thursday. I hope Mike recognises his chubby girlfriend at the airport. Heh.

This is sherry log:

and when you slice through it...
...heaven!

I'm a little worried about flying on Thursday, actually. Everything I've read about glandular fever tells me that my spleen is quite likely to be enlarged, which makes me wonder if it can pop when I change altitude... I'm sure I'm just being silly, though.

I got quite a number of lovely gifts, including:
A few books, including a dictionary (!), a book of Latin, a bunch of little nice-sayings books (none are pictured), the box set of the Chronicles of Narnia, five little canvasses, two A5-size canvasses, two A3-size canvasses, a new laundry hamper, green thongs, sub-woofery speakers for my computer, a dog bag, a cute soft beagle dog toy, a bamboo vegetable steamer, and Enjo car washing mitt (neither are pictured, either) and some cash to get something I want: probably a biiiig tall-boy chest-of-drawers thing...or maybe it'll go toward my trip in May. I'm not sure yet...anyway, on to the pictures!

Santa's been! Santa's been!

Looking out the kitchen window, we saw a specatcular sight: a naturally-decorated christmas tree! (They're cockatoos!) It was a cool way to start the day.

Sassy investigating presents.

Sassy opening one for herself!

Mum also got my uni diploma framed, and gave me a frame for the Honours diploma (no pressure... :| ...at all). Completely by coincidence, the frame had a generic picture of Sydney in it when it was bought! Mum also got all our birth charts done by a hippie type lady, but sadly the woman screwed up mine and thinks I was born in 1976, not 1978. When we get it fixed, I'll post pics.

Bother Dearest did rather well in the gift department: this is a beautiful garnet earring and necklace set that he picked for me. I was amazed and praised him...at which point he smirked and told me that it was "half-price"... *sigh*

Today, battle_maiden came over and we exchanged gifts and played some games of Man Bites Dog, which was fun. This (and a box of Pods, which we shared) was what she gave me:

How awesome is it!? I LOVE clouds so much! *bounces* Thank you battle_maiden!

And, speaking of awesome, here's a pic of the bracelet that Mike gave me that I didn't have a photo of before:

I hope you all had a delightfully relaxing Boxing Day, and that those of you who have to work tomorrow have stress-free weeks between now and next year.
