[The morning sun is rising on the horizon and Buffy Summers is snatching an hour or two for herself between the night and day patrols. With the return of daylight, she plans her own return to the cave systems. After all, Drusilla will have to hide herself from the sunlight and so a continued search of the exterior world would be supremely fruitless

[ Kirk eyes the journal then rolls over and goes back--wait no, those were the wings. ]

Ow!

[So impatient! And with no immediately obedient response to her request, she abandons that plan for one that was a little more proactive. She lets herself into their apartment and does the stealth-approach to Kirk's bed. Giving your foot a vigorous wake-up shake, Captain.]

[canyonsiniowa]

[ Originally seething over rolling onto his wings, ow. Then Buffy grabs his foot and is shocked and -- okay yeah, he jumps like a foot up in bed and stares at her. ]

--Buffy!?

[slaying]

[Stifle that laughter, Slayer! So after a few seconds of oh-god-keep-a-straight-face:] Good morning, Jim. I hope you're hungry.

[canyonsiniowa]

[ ...slowly eyes her. ]

You bringing me breakfast in bed or do I need to get up?

[slaying]

[Huff. Do something nice like make some pancakes for a fellow and he tries to take a mile. She's whispering in hopes of not waking the room's other occupant.]

I don't think Bones would appreciate a breakfast in bed scene while he's trying to get his recovery on. Ergo, we are kitchen-bound.

[canyonsiniowa]

Alright. I'll be out in a second.

[slaying]

[And she takes that as her cue to step outside the bedroom. Occasionally, the girl is spot-on with her social cues. She waits--still impatiently--just outside the apartment door, shoulders pressed back against the wall.]

[ And Kirk comes out in his black undershirt and some loose black pants. Which really makes his gold wings stick out but whatever. ]

[slaying]

I hope they haven't gotten all cold what with your supreme amount of morning laziness. [She teases, walking backwards towards the kitchen area so that she can stare (with equal parts amusement and affection) at just how much those wings stick out.]

Bee woke me up earlier poking his head into my window.

[slaying]

Is that a thing that he--or it, or whatever--does often? 'Cause talk about the fright of my young and already sort of frightful life.

[Oh look, a kitchen. What waits there is a pretty pathetic bid for normalcy, on Buffy's part. Two plates heaped with (mostly unburned) pancakes, butter and syrup arranged too neatly near by.]

Not usually. But he's a scout from his people, so he's probably just doing his job--are those pancakes?

[ Officially distracted! ]

[slaying]

Of course they're pancakes. All other breakfast foods may as well not count as breakfast foods. More like prelude-to-pancakes foods.

[Have a seat, because she certainly is. At this moment it would be useful (and telling) to note that Buffy has set this small square table so that she and Kirk were on either sides of a corner rather than sitting across from each other.]

[ He sits down next to her, grinning like a kid. Oh this is awesome. ]

So what's the big surprise for?

[slaying]

It's for that face. Y'know, the one you're making right now?

[Only half teasing, this time.] Rescue missions don't come with many smiles. Not until they're over, at least.
