[If and when her patrol takes her on the path leading to CH7, Buffy might meet Giles walking slowly, carefully, the other way. His eyes are open, at least, albeit still just as obviously nonfunctional.

He appears to be talking into his journal, and at the very least he is armed with his sword.]

[ she had been walking fairly quietly until now; however, upon seeing giles and his still-blindness, she drags her feet. makes herself an obvious co-walker from afar. ]

[Sure enough, Giles pauses, tilting his head curiously and evidently aware that someone else is on the path.]

Hello?

Are you sure you should be packing steel when you can't see what your swinging at, Giles?

[ concerned? yes. ]

The concern had crossed my mind, yes.

[He closes the journal.] Force of habit, now, more than anything.

...How are you feeling?

I managed to shake off "exhausted" some time yesterday.

Now? Now I'm afraid Helios and Frederic have to deal with my going nearly mad with boredom.

I thought I'd take pity.

[On top of that, Giles has been vacillating between frustrated, upset, angry, restless, and waiting on pins and needles to be able to see again. But you didn't want to hear about that, did you, Buffy?]

One stir-crazy Giles can't be good for the domestic bliss. [ she approaches him (nice and loudly!) and reaches for his arm. ] Come on. Patrol with me?

I suspect I've been toeing the line recently, yes.

[He doesn't flinch at her approach or at her taking his arm. With some people, it's...actually pretty helpful. It helps that she's being far noisier than any Slayer has a right to be.]

I'm hardly going to be any help on patrol.

It's not like I ever manage to find much more than a lost New Feather or a returned kidnappee, anyway. Patrols are more like leisurely, armed strolls. So you can help by keeping me company. I've got something I wanna ask you about, anyway.

And it's not as though I'm really expecting to get attacked by much more than a pirate or Helios' psychotic alternate self.

...I can help in this respect, then.

[Hrm. That could either be...really good or really bad. In Luceti, such lead-ins tend to be one or the other.]

Something you wanted to ask?

[ pirate. hmm. she holds back from discussing whether jack really would do such attacking with a slayer on giles' arm. buffy knows he wouldn't; she even doubts he would attack first if she wasn't there. sparrow isn't the attacking type, in her mind. ]

Now that you're here for the second time, did any of your things come back with you? Again? Books? Watchers' diaries?

[And Giles holds back from asking exactly what Buffy had to threaten Jack with to make the pirate ask after his health and not take advantage of the situation.

He shakes his head.]

I didn't have much of anything when I was brought over. Mostly just the sword and the clothes.

[The temple in Tibet had been far, far away by then.]

I finally had to ask Bil for a guitar.

[ it was all slayer-threat free, actually! perhaps lead on simply by the fact that sparrow has become aware of how vital the ex-watcher is to buffy. if giles' is in a bad state, then so is she. ]

If any of them do show up -- like, old ones. Old Watchers' diaries. Will you let me know?

Are they likely to if they were a few countries away at the time and I hadn't seen them for a couple of months?

[He tilts his head towards her.]

...and would you mind, in turn, telling me what's brought this sudden interest about? Not that I object to being involved in the plan, mind - it's a far cry above you distracting me while Willow sneaks them out of my office.

My skates came. My real, actually mine skates. And they definitely were supposed to have been ka-boomed back in Sunnydale.

[ skates were not precious, precious books though. but buffy still treasures them. ] If I tell you the why, will you promise not to make that face? You know the one.
