[ For most of the day, Willow's killing time before the big meeting. For the beginning and middle parts of the day, Willow is cooking. Yes, House 7 smells of food today. Early in the morning, she gets up to cook breakfast, pancakes - and she's totally taking orders from anyone who's actually up with her - and omelets if you guys are lucky. Any ( Read more... )

Knock knock?

[Xander's at the door to House 7, and YES he can smell the food and OF COURSE he is hungry. He's Xander Harris.]

[ ...he's just lucky Willow just finished a batch of pancakes. She turns the stove off and heads for the door. ]

Xander? [ Grin. ] You smelled the food, didn't you? [ Meaning, come on in; she'll make him something. ]

Nooooooooooooo yes, I smelled it. And you might say I'm a bit hungry, as the old Bachelor Pad is sadly lacking in food and in people capable of cooking food. What's on the menu, dollface? [Trying and failing to do some kind of Jimmy Cagney impersonation.]

[ Well, shutting the door behind him, she motions for him to follow her further into the large front room that doubles as a kitchen. ]

Sounds like you could use a few lessons. I've got pancakes and omelets. Anything else you'll have to make yourself.

[ There's a plate of each on the table plus a spare plate or two. ]

Pancakes and omelets please. [Without waiting, Xander loads up a plate with both, sort of balancing some omelet on the pancakes and then more pancakes on top. And then syrup, but not too much, because that would be disgusting. He slouches into a chair at the table and picks up a fork.]

Okay, so what are your thoughts on the big meetdown? [Eating now. All conversation after this point will probably be conducted with a semi-full mouth.]

[ Willow just smiles. ] Don't let Buffy see you chowing down so much. She'll think you aren't feeding yourself.

[ But she picks an omelet and two pancakes off the pile, leaving few left for seconds, and sits down close by. ]

I just figure it's like every other Scooby meeting. Buffy tells us what's going on and we figure out a plan of action.

Yeah, but now there's---[unslayable vampires, enemies on the team, a whole new world to slay-assist in]--stuff.

If you're talking about Spike, he's helped us a lot in my past... your future. And Buffy's been here for a long time. She probably knows a lot more now than we do.

[ Not to mention that whole future thing. She's nursing a glass of orange juice by this point. ] Do you want a drink, too?

Sure, I'll take some OJ. No, no no--I'll get it. [He gets up and from the fridge produces a carton, which he goes to drink out of but JUST stops himself soon enough to pour it into a glass instead. He brings both back to the table, setting the juice next to the glass.]

Really, I'm fine with it. FINE with it. Spike is "helpful." I get it.

[ Oh good, because she probably would have smacked him if he had. She watches him, though. ]

It's more complicated than that, Xander. Promise me you won't hold it over him if I tell you something?

[ Pointed look. She knows how his brain works by now. ]

I don't know if it's still working or not, but something happened that made Spike unable to hurt humans. He... probably got it out by now, but he was being really helpful even without it. He was fighting for us. A lot. Protecting us. He's not the same Spike you knew.
