Playing a little guitar this evening
The Lincoln ad featuring Under The Milky Way Tonight (but not by The Church) has had me going for a while recently so tonight I decided to pick up a guitar and see if I could make it happen. It's pretty simple, the chords always sounded so unusual but there's really only four and they're mostly very normal chords. It's like they wrote the song when they weren't able to play properly so they made the chords easier so they could play it and it just ended up sounding so magical. That's what happens with 7th chords.
So Am, Fmaj7, G, C, and a cameo from an Am with a minor 7th. There may be other embellishments, but I don't have a good recording of the song, just youtube videos, so might be missing somethings. it sounds really nice either way.
