The spray bottle test
Page one contains KWZ Ink in 'IG Blue #1’ and I am quite please at its resistance to water. Not only that, but the color and hue are darker than the Old World Ink ‘Iron Gall Ink’ from johnnealbooks.com I will have to do a price comparison for the McCaffery ink which is also resistant to smudge in water. I don’t know when I’ll have time for that as it will involve measuring ounces and accounting for shipping charges. This new batch of ink was ordered thru cultpens.com which probably charged me more for my supplies as I already compared prices for the TWSBI fountain pen which I could’ve purchased for a few dollars less at Goulet pens, or some other American based website.
I like the option of writing in this black-letter style and/or regular handwriting/printing with the same nib. It isn’t so wide that handwriting will be awkward and illegible due to the thick and thin strokes. There have been occasions when I’m writing under low light with a regular ballpoint pen and I find myself squinting to check where I’m at in a sentence - something that might occur if I’m copying text from one source to a blank sheet of paper. It’s more common, for instance, when writing code and my brain can’t remember which digit I left off on, but writing in fraktur solves this in two ways. It’s bold and thick and I can see my writing without glasses. And it’s easier to remember the last digit I left off on because each letter is so detailed, it’s hard to forget what strokes were made.
I’m still trying to get into my new library book by Haruki Murakami. Upon looking up the word in the title, google returned an Italian definition. When I use a dedicated English dictionary, the result was plain and boring. Commander, but when I translated the Italian definition, it included Grand Master like in the Knights Templar. Years ago I was into reading about history during the 14th century, so I think I’m really going to enjoy this read.
