A big happy double birthday to pikacello and ziggybecket! According to Wikipedia, on this day in 1948, at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Columbia Records introduced it's new record format: the Long Play record, the LP. At 33 1/3 RPMs, it could hold about 20 minutes of music on each side, allowing for longer listening sessions. And it was this day a mere 5 years ago that SpaceShipOne reached the lower limits of the bounds of space, making it the first privately human space flight ever.
