As always, Menolly looks at the crowds with shy hesitation at the beginning of the performance. There are always so many people at Harper Hall Gathers, she thinks, and once again, she is playing for their entertainment. On gitar, no less; her strained and scarred hand is still not entirely flexible.
But Master Robinton spurs her onward with a soft word, and she tunes her gitar. Finally, they begin to play the music, and she loses her nerves in its grace. One song, then the next, and then the next. When the music ends, she steps off the stage smiling.
