Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 164

Author's Note: Written for the 50scenes challenge with the prompt 014. Sing.
Summary: His mother’s lullaby always put him to sleep.
Eileen wrapped her arms around her six-year old son, Severus, singing a soft lullaby to help him get to sleep. Her husband, Tobias, wasn’t home yet and this was the only time she could be with her son without him shouting at her.
They were wrapped up tightly in a dark green blanket where the freezing winter winds couldn’t get them through the broken window frames. Severus was awake, but not fully registering everything around him. He had his eyes half open, facing the ceiling as he listened to the lullaby his mother was singing.
He closed his eyes when he heard the front door slam and his father call for his mother, who quickly scrambled out of bed to greet her husband. He could hear his father shouting and his mother trying to quiet him, but Severus didn’t pay any attention to it. His mother’s voice was echoing in his mind, still singing the lullaby.
His mother’s lullaby always put him to sleep and tonight was no different. But that night, instead of having dreams of his mother and father being happy together, he had a nightmare - but it was okay because his mother always said nightmares weren’t real, especially not this one. His mother would never stop loving his father. She said so herself.

Summary: Minerva wants to help Severus cope with Lily’s death, but unexpected events happen that completely change her views on the younger man.
“She’s gone, Minerva.” Severus said coarsely from the chair in front of the fire, gripping an old picture of Lily and him with white knuckles. He was fighting back tears, but he didn’t know how long he could keep them at bay.
Minerva put a hand on his shoulder, looking down at the photo in Severus’s hands. It was from Lily’s wedding - that he had not attended - but James was cut out and all that remained was the radiant bride.
“I… it was my fault.” Severus got up abruptly and set the picture on the table next to the chair. He started pacing.
“If I hadn’t been so weak, this wouldn’t have happened.” Severus said as he stopped pacing and looked at Minerva with the most helpless look on his face. Minerva felt so bad for him, knowing how bad it was to lose somebody like Lily, who he had loved with all his being. She herself had lost her husband ten years ago to the Dark Lord’s minions.
“Don’t blame yourself for what Voldemort did.” Minerva said, walking towards him. Severus hung his head, his thin frame racking from a sob.
“The sick thing is that I actually believed that he would spare her life…” Severus said in a dark tone as he held onto the table for support. His head was still hung, but tears were falling on the table like raindrops.
“Severus, the only reason-” Severus whipped his head up to glare at her.
“Get out.” Severus said sharply, though the look in his eye suggested otherwise. Minerva knew that he was torn between wanting her here and wanting to be alone. His tone screamed ‘LEAVE!’, but the look in his eyes whispered ‘Please don’t go…’.
“No, you need to talk about this.” Minerva said sternly, and she could tell that he was, once again, conflicted. He sank back into the chair, tears still falling down his face.
“I don’t want to…” He whispered, barely audible but Minerva heard it.
“Oh, Severus…” She walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
“I loved her… I always loved her…” Severus whispered, closing his eyes as he thought of her beautiful green eyes and her long, red hair.
“Her son survived and I’m sure she’d want you to make sure he’ll grow up to be a fine young lad…” Just like his dad. Those words were unspoken, but Severus sobbed even harder. He didn’t want her son, he wanted Lily.
“He has his mother’s eyes…” Minerva said fondly, thinking of Harry from the last time she saw him, which was only hours before.
“I’d like you to leave, Professor McGonagall.” Severus choked out, standing up and trying to give her a glare as if to say her presence was not needed anymore. Minerva was not impressed, but complied nonetheless. If he didn’t want to talk tonight then she’d just have to try to get him to talk another night.
“Very well… see you in the morning, Professor Snape.” Minerva said, nodding stiffly as she left the room. She didn’t leave immediately after, though. She stood close to the door and frowned when she heard Severus crying again.
As she walked away, she wondered what fate would befall Lily’s child. She had asked Albus for Severus to look after him, but Albus had said that it would be too much for him to handle. Before, Minerva had just raised an eyebrow and tried to convince him otherwise but now she was almost glad that Severus wasn’t taking care of Harry.
Her thoughts wandered to the events that had taken place earlier and she would no longer see him as an uncaring man who more than likely died inside a long time ago. She would see him as a man who had shielded himself for who knows how long and the one time he let his guard down, thinking nothing else bad could happen, he was proven wrong and shot down.
She felt so sorry for the boy, hoping that he wouldn’t be too affected by it. Classes would be postponed for a few days while everybody sat in mourning over the loss of them and Minerva prayed that Severus would be able to manage his classes once they started again.
Thankfully, her prayers were answered and Severus seemed to be unaffected by the ordeal.

Author's Note: Written for the 50_scenes challenge with the prompt 007. Moonlight.
Summary: He's never seen the night the same since.
It was midnight. The first midnight since the attempted murder that the headmaster had decided was just a ‘harmless prank run afoul’… the bastard. Pale clenched fists held tightly onto robe sleeves, thanking whatever God there was that he was stuck in the dungeons where there were no windows whatsoever.
…He loved it. He wouldn’t have to look out the window at the damn moon, but he still had to deal with the werewolf at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the rest of his bloody school stay. That did not sit well with him.
Nonetheless, he would keep his ‘promise’ of not telling anybody Remus’s dirty little secret. He’d find it difficult once word spread about his attempted murder - there had been murmurs earlier that day - but he’d find a believable lie to tell the curious folk.
One thing was certain; he’d never seen the night the same again. He’d be reminded of the murderous look in the werewolf’s eyes, the feeling of hopelessness he had, and most of all of the incompetent fool of a headmaster that had the nerve to let it slide as just a ‘prank’.
A prank… no, this wasn’t like their other pranks. This was attempted murder, and the worst part was Severus had no bloody idea what he had done this year. Sure, he’d cursed them all a few times but that was at the beginning of the year. Black never gave a straight answer and his lies never worked.
He would forgive Remus and James because they certainly had no part in it at all, but he would hold a grudge against Sirius forever. There was no love for the wicked, as Severus knew all too well.

Summary: And for a moment, he was happy.
Darkness fell upon Severus Snape as he woke up in his family home. He had somehow fallen asleep on the floor, but he couldn’t remember what he had done the night before. His mind was drawing up blanks and that frustrated him.
As he stumbled up, he felt a searing pain in his left arm and then the memories came pouring in. He smiled for the first time in months. In the darkness of the night, Severus looked down at his left forearm with adoration in his eyes.
He finally belonged somewhere where they wouldn’t judge him because he was very interested in the Dark Arts, or because he was an expert at Potions, or because he was an orphan. He finally belonged with people like him who are interested in the Dark Arts, even if the Death Eaters were murderers and followers of the Dark Lord.
He didn’t care about that, though. He didn’t care because he finally had somewhere were his abilities were praised - a first in his life.
For the first time in years he was truly, honestly, and insanely happy. He was no longer Severus Snape, the greasy skinny git who was a little too interested in the Dark Arts to be a ‘good guy’. No, he was Severus Snape, Death Eater.
And for a moment, he was happy.

Lily Evans rushed through the infirmary doors and all but ran to Severus’s side, eyes wide with concern. He looked thinner, paler, and more vulnerable than the last time she really got a good look at him.
“Sev? Sev, it’s me, Lily.” she said, sitting in the vacant chair next to him and taking one of his pale, thin hands. Severus’s hair had been cut over the summer, showing off his strong yet delicate face and it no longer looked greasy anymore. He was finally taking care of himself now that his father was gone; Lily smiled.
“Lily?” he sounded so fragile… so lost. Severus opened his eyes and attempted to sit up with Lily helping him. He managed to get in a sitting position and smiled slightly at the sight of Lily. He always had a fondness for her, and he was certain he always would.
“Hey, Sev… you look… good.” Lily said, reddening a little. To her surprise, Severus did the same as her.
“Thanks… why are you here?” Severus asked, knowing that they were not exactly on the best of terms after calling her a Mudblood a year before. He was surprised she showed up.
“I got worried about you… I heard James and Sirius talking about you being in the infirmary and I just came by to see if you were okay… are you?” Lily asked, looking at Severus in concern.
“Depends… I was tricked and almost murdered by Black and the damn werewolf buddy of his.” Severus spat, looking very cross which only served to remind Lily of a toddler made that they got caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
“How did they trick you?” Lily asked.
“Theysaidyouwereintrouble.” Severus mumbled.
“What?” Lily asked, suppressing a small laugh. Severus took a deep breath before answering.
“They said you were in trouble and that they needed my help to get you out of it and I… I acted on impulse. Then I was attacked by the werewolf - God forbid some punishment was necessary for Black and his idiot friends - and now here I am, trying to recover.” Severus said with some bitterness as he remembered the conversation between James, Remus, Sirius, himself, and Dumbledore.
“Why did you go? You knew I had detention with Slughorn.” Lily asked, creasing her eyebrows in deep concentration.
“Because I wasn’t thinking. They just stormed into the library, said that you were in trouble and I just… well if anything happened to you then I couldn’t forgive myself.” Severus said, looking anywhere but at Lily’s face. She smiled warmly.
“Did you remember the promise, or do all black-haired guys with an attitude problem have a soft spot for me?” Lily asked, a goofy grin on her face.
“The only thing that went through my head was that promise. Lily, you know I didn’t mean to call you a Mudblood, right? I was just-” Lily interrupted him.
“Severus, I know, and me not speaking to you had nothing to do with that. Sure, I was angry and betrayed for a few weeks but I got over it. It was just… you were so involved in the Dark Arts, Sevvy. The promise worked both ways and I couldn’t do anything to help you.” Lily said, some tears stinging her eyes.
“So… you don’t hate me?” Severus asked, hope evident in his eyes.
“No… no, I could never hate you, Sev.” Lily then frowned and grabbed Severus’s bare arm, looking intently at the fresh slashes on it.
“Was this part of it?” she demanded, not taking her eyes off his arm.
“Yeah, but I’m fine… really.” he lied, knowing she would believe him. But in all truth, he was not fine. He was lied to and almost killed; two very unforgivable things.
“No, you aren’t. I cannot believe James and Sirius did this… when I see them next I’m going to give them a piece of my mind! I just cannot believe those assholes-” While Lily was ranting (more to herself than Severus), Severus noticed James enter the infirmary.
“Lily, get away from him!” James snapped, running with incredible speed and yanking Severus’s arm out of her hands, making Severus hiss in pain. Lily glared at James and crossed her arms.
“What is the meaning of this, James Potter? What in your right mind possessed you to attempt to murder Severus?” Lily demanded, glaring at her soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. James just smiled sheepishly and shrugged, earning himself a smack across the face. Severus smirked.
“We didn’t try to murder him! In fact, I saved his slimey, greasy ass from death! I’m the hero, Lily, don’t fall-”
“Don’t you dare call yourself a hero, James. As of right now, no longer consider us a couple.” And with that Lily stormed out of the infirmary, leaving a very amused Severus and very annoyed James behind her.
“I hope you’re happy, Snivellus.” James spat. “I’d die for her, did you know that? What would you do for her? Apologize for calling her names and offer make-up sex?”
“I think I have you beat, Potter.” Severus sneered. “Though I have nothing but platonic feelings for Lily, I nearly did die for her.” James just flipped him off - Severus gladly returning the favor - and left the infirmary, leaving Severus alone.

Brian was looking at me like Rita does, which was surprising because I didn’t think that he could feel emotions. I thought he was exactly like me; unable to feel any emotion just like me. After all, he was my brother, wasn’t he? But I might have just been seeing things since I had just woken up from what I could tell was a drug-induced sleep.
“Dexter…” He slammed me up against the wall, and my clever brain was too slow to comprehend what was going on here. Was he going to kill me? Poor Darling Dexter - he would be murdered just days before his wedding, by his brother no less. What ever will Rita and the kids do? How will Dear Deborah survive alone? Who will clean the streets when Dexter is gone?
And then he did something completely unexpected - he kissed me.
Unfortunately for me, my foggy brain did not clear up like they did for those in the movies that I’d seen so now I wasn’t sure if I was still asleep or somehow - unbelievably - awake. He pulled away when I showed no reaction, but that was because I honestly wasn’t sure of what was going on.
“Brian?” That was what I tried to say, but it came out as something entirely different. It sounded like I had meshed together different consonants, and quite possibly other sounds that I didn’t even know I knew.
Then something outrageous happened - I kissed him back.
I felt something, but I wasn’t sure what. It certainly wasn’t a conscious because it seemed highly unlikely that I would get one from kissing my brother but not from killing others, and it might have just proved that God - the way most Catholics portrayed him, anyway - was real.
Killing is okay, but kissing another man - never mind that it’s your brother - is enough to piss off God and make you have a conscious.
Somehow, that didn’t seem very likely.
He pulled away again, and I was still in my half-asleep daze. I could hear the Dark Passenger grumbling and felt myself slip away, meaning the Dark Passenger was taking control. This had never happened before. The Dark Passenger had always started to control me when I was killing, but never when I was making love with Rita or any other girl.
And besides, wasn’t I supposed to be with a woman? When had I even felt things for a man? Did I even have feelings? Was I awake?
Two hours later, those same questions attacked my mind again as I called Rita, in a better mood than when I had left her - soon to be our - home twelve hours earlier.
Title: Spiders Never Lie
Author: slasherfersure
Fandom: Dexter
Pairing/Character: Dexter, Deborah, Harry
Rating: PG
Word Count: 533
Summary: Deborah was screaming bloody murder, and being the concerned older brother he was, Dexter was more or less determined to figure out why.
Warning: None.
With as much grace as an exhausted sixteen year old boy could have, Dexter jumped out of bed and ran - narrowly missing the door frame in the process - into Deborah’s room. Deborah was screaming bloody murder, and being the concerned older brother he was, Dexter was more or less determined to figure out why.
If he could’ve laughed, he would have. There, cowering on her bed, was a red-faced Deborah, shaking in fear as a spider - very large, but they normally were in Miami - crawling towards her closet quickly, appearing to be frightened by the high pitched scream.
“Deborah, it’s a spi-” Dexter said with a husky voice, still groggy with only two hours of sleep to power him right now.
“KILL IT!” Deborah bellowed, glaring at the spider as if it would somehow burst into flames. Right now, that’s what Dexter wanted it to do. But Dexter just walked up and smacked it hard with his hand, cringing as he felt it squish under his palm.
The only problem was, it wasn’t dead yet. Sure, a leg or two was stuck on his palm, but it was still wriggling on the floor. Dexter bend down and smacked it again, this time successfully killing it.
Dexter just blinked a few times, wiped the remains of the spider of the wall, and turned to Deborah. She just smiled awkwardly and muttered a thanks, and Dexter turned and saw Harry standing in the doorway, a single eyebrow raised. Dexter had always wanted to do that.
“What’s all the commotion about?” Harry asked calmly. He was still in his uniform, meaning either he had just got here or he had been sitting in the living room, reading, watching the television, or doing paperwork.
“Deborah saw a spider, I killed it.” Dexter said without much enthusiasm. He loved to kill animals, but killing a spider was… nothing. It was like pulling a piece of grass; not that exciting. Harry’s eyebrow raised even higher, if that was possible.
“Good boy. Kill an innocent spider when you could’ve just as easily put it outside.” Dexter couldn’t tell if that was sarcasm or not, but he honestly didn’t care. It was a spider; so what? There were billions more out there, one missing wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Nobody talked for awhile, but Dexter could tell that Deborah probably wanted them out of her room. Dexter stood up straight and walked out of the room. Harry said goodnight to Deborah, closed her door, and turned to face Dexter as he turned to go back into his room.
“Dexter,” he said, “did you feel anything when you did that?” Dexter shook his head, his eyelids feeling too heavy to keep open. It was a Saturday night and Harry had all the power to keep him up as late as he wanted since they wouldn’t be doing anything tomorrow. Dexter was hoping he wouldn’t.
“Well… good.” Harry said, patting Dexter on the shoulder and smiling a little. Dexter was too tired to figure out why so he just shrugged and walked with a slight sway back to his bed where he would get a full night’s sleep.
Title: My Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman
Author: slasherfersure
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Scrubs
Word Count: 1110
Summary: “What in God’s name is that, Mary-Jane?” “My Halloween costume! I’m your friendly neighborhood Spiderman!”
Pairing: Perry/J.D. implied Todd/J.D.
Note: Kim never existed in this little ficlet. J.D. has his own place in the same building as Turk and Carla.[ Ahahaha, wow! xD I wrote this way-back in June. :B ] I guess this qualifies as a crack!fic. xD
Perry had never seen anything more creepy than what had just showed up on his doorstep. Jordan had talked J.D. into taking Jack trick-or-treating while she and Perry “went to a Halloween party“ - they were really just going to relax at home - but he hadn’t expected J.D. to actually take part in the trick-or-treating.
“Hey, Coxie!” J.D. said, giving Perry a goofy grin while Izzy hung from a baby carrier on his chest, sucking on her lollipop. Perry groaned, but Jordan greeted J.D. with a warm smile and a Batsuit wearing Jack.
“D.J., we won’t be back until midnight - way past your bedtime - so I’m hoping that you’ll take care of Jack until morning… and if not, I’ll attack you. Viciously. Get it?” J.D. nodded as Jordan left to room to grab Jack’s pumpkin-shaped plastic bowl for him to store his candy in.
“What in God’s name is that, Mary-Jane?” Perry asked, thanking God that he didn’t have the Spiderman mask on.
“My Halloween costume! I’m your friendly neighborhood Spiderman!” J.D. exclaimed, pulling a mask out of nowhere and putting it on. Perry covered Jack’s eyes.
“Listen, Spidergirl, take the mask off and listen to me: You are not a superhero. You are not a little kid. For God’s sake, grow up.” Perry told him in a stern voice, taking his hand away from Jack’s eyes as J.D. took the mask off swiftly.
“You’re just mad because you have to spend the night doing borings things instead of facing the world… like us!” J.D. exclaimed, doing a dramatic superhero pose. And to Perry’s horror, Jack jumped beside him and copied his movements.
“Oh, God… Jordan! He’s brainwashed our child!” Perry shouted, turning around to see Jordan trying not to crack up at the two. She handed Jack his candy bag.
“Remember Jack: Stay with Aunt Joanna and don’t talk to strangers. You, too, Sally.” Jordan said, kissing Jack on the forehead.
“Bye, Jordan!” J.D. called as he took Jack’s hand and walked down the hallway.
“Only take candy from strangers if they’re legit!” Jordan called, smiling as she closed the door. Perry felt a little hurt that J.D. didn’t say goodbye to him, and it more than likely showed.
“Oh. My. God.” Jordan said, her eyes wide with disbelief. Was Perry… sad? “You’re sad because… you like him.” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement. A cold, hard, but very true statement.
“What? No… no. No, no, no, no, nuh-oh.” Perry said, swiping at his nose. He sat down on the couch and turned on the T.V., oblivious to Jordan’s knowing smile. He felt uncomfortable knowing that Jordan knew his secret.
“Aww, that’s so adorable, Per! You have a man-crush on Jessica!” Jordan was ecstatic that she finally had some blackmail material on Perry. Perry turned to her with a ‘not amused’ look on his face.
“I do not - I repeat - do not have a crush on Mary-Jane.” Jordan just looked at him with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms.
“Perry, don’t deny it. You like him, and you know it. You even enjoy liking him. He’s the only one you ever pick on, and when he hangs out with other - older - doctors, you instantly get jealous. And when Turk got back from his honeymoon, Elliot told me that she saw you glaring Turk down because of how they greeted each other. Percival Cox: You are madly in love John Dorian. Admit it.” Jordan demanded, sitting next to him on the couch. Perry snorted and swiped at his nose again; obvious proof - at least to Jordan - that he did love J.D… somewhat. And she would spend all night coxing it out of him.
Besides, they had nowhere to go tonight.
J.D. awoke to a screaming Izzy, a sugar-rush mess belonging to Jack, and a very confused - and mildly amused - Carla. Since they technically lived together - their rooms were right next to each other - they each had a key, and Carla had come in to get Izzy. J.D. was half on the couch, his Spiderman costume stained with eggs that some local kids (the scallywags) had thrown at him.
“J.D., are you okay?” Carla asked, picking up Izzy from the chair-turned-bed. J.D. nodded and turned over, staring at Jack. He was still eating his candy, and he suddenly remembered that he had fallen asleep watching The Little Mermaid.
“Oh, God, Carla, I’m so sorry! I forgot to bring Izzy over and I-” Carla shushed him, holding her daughter in her arms.
“It’s okay, J.D., she’s obviously fine.” Carla said as somebody knocked at the door. J.D. quickly took off the top half of his Spiderman suit (the part that had the most egg stains) and answered the door.
“Dr. Cox…” J.D. - it was obvious he just woke up because he forgot about Jack - said, trying to figure why he was here. “Oh, yeah! Jack!” He rushed to get Jack, but only managed to trip over the couch and land on the floor in front of him. Carla shook her head and exited his apartment.
“Lucy, get up.” Perry was not in the mood to be staring at a face-down J.D. - he would end up having some certain thoughts about it - and he wanted to get home as soon as possible with his son.
“Jack, time for you to go home.” J.D. said as Perry picked up Jack. J.D. got up, but realized that Perry had already left.
“Pretty sneaky, Perry. Leave before paying me, I see- Ooooh, money!” J.D. exclaimed, picking up a twenty that had been newly placed on his coffee table.
“So, Jack, how was trick-or-treating?” Jordan asked, putting his Halloween costume in the laundry. Jack took another bite of his Snickers bar before answering. Perry was sitting on the couch, brooding.
“We saw Todd…” Jack laughed at the memory. “He hurt Auntie, ‘do. They were wrestling’ on the floor, and then Auntie hit his head on the table. But Todd kissed his boo-boo so he‘s fine.” Perry was out the door in five seconds flat. Jordan laughed and gave Jack a pat on the head.
“Good job, squirt. Now we play the waiting game.” Jordan said, going to sit on the couch. Her soaps were on and she needed to see if Maria would marry her son or not.
“Where’s Daddy?” Jack asked, looking around the room in confusion. Jordan just smiled at him.
“He’s going to do something he should’ve done a long time ago.” Jordan simply stated, turning up the volume on the T.V.
