Dexter drabbles do not conform to canon. They're just... things I wrote before I read the books & after I watched ONLY the second season. (:
Dexter
Blood. Pg. Dexter.
It’s the blood that excites him and makes the Dark Passenger come out of hiding. It’s dormant - well, for the most part. It can sense the blood pouring out his latest victims, and he never wants it to go away. The Dark Passenger is the only thing that he has of his mother, even if Harry was a large part of the creation of it.
It may be evil but it does society a great service. Others may disagree but Dexter knows what he’s doing - he always does.
There is only so much room in prison, Dexter muses.
That in-between place. Pg. Dexter (ref. Harry).
The in-between place; the place he could go to get away from everything and be alone. It happened to him only once; it was the day of his father’s murder. There was no noise going on that day and all Dexter heard was distant murmurs that he couldn’t make out. It was absolutely wonderful - no noise, no voices, no nothing.
He could finally think, only he couldn’t. Whenever he tried to, he couldn’t even hear himself. He heard his thoughts from a distance, and then there was a sharp imitation of his father’s voice from three days before his death.
Bravery. Pg. Brian (ref. Dexter)
Brave little brother…
In his final moments, Brian should be thinking about anything but how brave his little brother is; how wonderful Dexter is at this. But he doesn’t - he admires his brother’s bravery. He wasn’t afraid of anything, despite the chance of being found out for what he was - what he truly was - at any given moment.
It didn’t seem likely, though. Dexter was too careful.
And if things had turned out differently, Brian would make sure nobody would harm Dexter should the truth come out. After all, that was what older brothers were for, right?
Pyromaniac. Pg. Dexter (ref. Lila)
He kind of guessed what Lila was after he heard the story about how her ex died. She was talking about it like she was fascinated and Dexter was sure that if he had seen her eyes, there would have been a strange glint in them that supported what he heard.
She was a pyromaniac, which was apparent once he learned that her place had burned down. He could see the multiple origins - did Lila take him for a fool? He didn’t find it believable that the room would burn so easily, not with her experience as a sculptor.
Numb3rs
In another world. Pg. Charlie.
Charlie always wondered what life would be if he had been born into another world. Of course, the result was always a dream - fall in love and have a family. But dreams were something that would never come true, no matter how much anybody wanted them to.
In another world, at this very moment, Charlie would be helping his daughter with her homework while listening to his two month old son babble adorably about absolutely nothing because that was what babies did - be utterly adorable. Mrs. Eppes would be cooking dinner, laughing and chattering with all of them.
It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia
Friends. Pg. Mac&Dennis.
After talking with Dennis, Mac was wondering what the hell went wrong with their lives. Dennis had dreamed of becoming a cop and he a fireman. But they’re nothing close to what they wanted to be.
Mac honestly doesn’t know how it happened, but maybe it’s because he knows deep inside that it’s his fault that Dennis isn’t a cop and he isn’t a fireman. Dennis does whatever Mac wants to do because he naively thinks that’s what a good friend does but Mac knows that out of the two of them, Dennis is a better friend than he is.
