Title: Vision in the Night

Pairing: Remus/Ron

Scenario: At night, Ron believes he can see Harry again (yes, thus meaning, Harry is dead), and Remus believes him.

"I saw him again."

Ron spoke before Remus had even finished opening the door. For a moment, Remus considered closing it and leaving but it wouldn't be right. So he walked into the room. Ron looked exhausted but he smiled at Remus and let Remus take his hand.

"I did," he said "I saw him. He was smiling at me...smiling and crying at the same time. He told me...told me so many things…"

"What did he tell you, Ron?" Remus asked gently.

He could almost hear the others shouting at him for encouraging Ron but they weren't here and Remus was.

"Well, I can't tell you all of it yet. I promised Harry I wouldn't. But he says that he still loves me and that he knows that everything that happened was for the best now."

"Is he a ghost?" Remus asked.

"I'm not sure what he is really," Ron admitted. "He's...well, Harry. Only dead. It's like he's really there...you know, physically. Only I know that if I touch him, he won't be."

He looked at Remus miserably.

"I have to sit on my hands to stop myself," he whispered. "I want to touch him so badly. But I know that I mustn't if I want him to stay."

Remus felt tears prick the back of his eyes. He kissed Ron gently, then stood up.

"Going already?" Ron asked.

"Just for a little while," Remus said. "But I'll come back then, I promise."

"Okay," Ron said. He turned away and Remus felt those tears again. It killed him to see Ron like this. He wasn't sure if he could keep coming, keep listening, even for a short while.

But he knew he'd be back.

The guard let him out and Remus walked away from St. Mungo's rooms for the permanently unbalanced, leaving Ron behind him to count the bricks in the wall and dream.
