not to be the scrooge of lj

I haven't really gotten into the Christmasy spirit and to my utter horror, I learned that Christmas is only over just a week away. The Christmases of the past few years haven't been that great but this is the first time we're not going up to Colorado since moving here, which is kind of neat, but I was expecting it to be neater than this. The old tree hasn't even been put yet, of course our house is pretty much a dumping ground of all the papers my mom's amassed this past semester and water bottles so it needs a cleaning first but still. Kind of miss the old days when we'd put the tree up after Thanksgiving and come home from school and there'd be a few presents under the tree, then the days would just seem to drag on until Christmas arrived but it'd be fun. The magic has seemed to disappear these last few years.
Heck, I even miss the moment when it snows at night and everything's really quiet and covered in glittering snow, the cold air's not even too bad then, crisp but not freezing. Other than that, I'm not a cold or snow kind of girl despite growing up in the CO. Plus getting used to the heat and humidity has made my blood thin.

Well, I've got my 'All I Want for Christmas...' My Chem version to get me in the mood. What I really ought to pull out is the old All for One Christmas cd, my mom used to play that all the time when I was a kid, but if I see Kenny G Christmas, I'm definitely hiding it.
Anyways, I've been pretty good today and actually added and finished chapter 3 and typed up chapter 4 of Nature's Family. After this, no more notebook writing, it was goo to get me going but it's kind of a pain typing up all the chapters. What I really need to work on is my moviequote!fic. I've got the quote part sorta done but the rest is lacking. I keep thinking I have all this time, next thing you know, it's the end of January. That would be a very me kind of moment.

But I did get some new shoes, which lifts the old spirits up quite a bit

Quite ridiculous, I know, but they're red ankle boots, can't beat that. Plus I'm short and could do with a bit height now and then.
