Whew, I'm finally caught up, I think ^^;! I still have to do the last Gathering report, so I should be typing that soon. I'll skip Monday's Gathering report because I already described most of Monday in that
Crappy Station entry.
Rosemary/
roseangelo, I got your package in the mail earlier this week 8D! Many thanks for everything!
The only 'excitement' I wanted to type up that I did during the interim of everything else was my trip to this year's
State Fair 2 Sundays ago. This year, our ENTIRE family went together! We haven't gone to the State Fair as a family in decades O~O! My sister/The Kid usually goes with her boyfriend, but he's currently out of town, so she came with us. She had a craving for a fresh deep fried 3 Musketeers bar ON A STICK XP! I couldn't believe she ate the whole thing later too o~O! The candy bars fried ON A STICK are a bit too sweet for me, but my sister has been having sweet cravings for awhile now. She never had them when she was a kid.
We parked in a lot behind the Roseville post office this year. Rosedale and Har Mar Mall weren't hosting the free park-and-ride this year. I'm guessing Rosedale is starting its re-construction of the now empty Mervyn's space. I have no idea why Har Mar didn't have the park-and-ride though ;b. It was supposedly 'cool' that Sunday, but I still felt hot enough to eat 3 snow cones. I hate my body and heat! I should NOT have ate that 'small child' deep fried ON A STICK when we first went inside. The 'small child' deep fried ON A STICK was actually a DOUBLE footlong corndog which cost $8.00 or the price of admission for a small child O~O! In past years, I yearned for a footlong corndog, but I always ran into the small corndog stands beforehand. This year, I was determined to eat a footlong corndog, but I ended up with a DOUBLE footlong corndog! It really was about 2 feet long, but the hot dogs inside were skinny puny things, so I ended up eating a LOT of cornmeal coating instead. There went my stomach though, so I unfortunately couldn't eat many other things I wanted to try like the footlong walleye sandwich later in the day ;(! I tried 'substituting' the sandwich for the walleye ON A STICK available at the Food Building, but that was a BIG disappointment. For $3.00, I got a walleye filet, THE SIZE OF A FINGER, ON A STICK! I should have saved my money, and my stomach, for Giggles' footlong walleye sandwiches which got 3.5 out of 4.0 stars in the
Star Tribune! My sister, who still had sweet tooth cravings even AFTER the deep fried 3 Musketeers bar, tried the grilled chocolate sandwich. Unfortunately, she didn't get a piping hot one, so it basically tasted like some melted chocolate goo in between 2 slices of PLAIN bread! The Star Tribune also gave it 3.5 out of 4.0 stars as well, but we couldn't believe it! We also tried the sorbet served in hollowed out fruit, which got 4.0 out of 4.0 stars in the Star Tribune. We were a bit surprised it came pre-packaged as if you could buy it in some grocery store somewhere, but it tasted refreshingly delicious 89! We only tried the pineapple sorbet, but the orange one probably would have tasted just as good. The only other new Fair food we tried were the fresh fried potato chips in the food building. Even though it too got 4.0 out of 4.0 stars, we were disappointed they tasted just like plain bagged potato chips instead of freshly fried. Since we bought that near the end of our day at the Fair, we ended up throwing most of them away. Dad wanted to keep them, but they weren't good for his heart ;b! We also threw away 1/3 of our deep fried cheese curds too because all of us were stuffed.
The entire family spent a total of ~$70.00 on food that day in only 3 hours o-O! Because of that DAMN double footlong corndog, I didn't even have room for my Fair favorite, honey ice cream, which I wanted my sister to try as well! I guess I'll have to wait until next year for that and the footlong walleye sandwich.
