I Can't Use Facebook
Due to my interest in advocacy and activism on matters related to homelessness I went to sign up for a new Facebook yesterday. For some reason Facebook has decided I am somehow suspicious and is delaying or perhaps eventually denying my account. I have had to upload a picture of myself for their review and so far it has been over 24 hours with no answer as to when I might begin to more actively sell my soul to the Satan that Zuckerberg's monstrosity has become.
It would be difficult to network effectively without Facebook, and that is precisely why the ubiquity of Facebook is a problem. I suppose a movement away from Facebook would have to start somewhere, but it just doesn't seem likely to make a difference. Facebook is like a bowel movement, an important yet stinking necessity.
