Traveling

Aug 27, 2007 18:27

Tomorrow I leave for Texas, I'm back on the third, then off to Minneapolis on the fourth for a week to meet my new grandson, perform a wedding, and hang out with family and friends.

Behave yourselves while I'm gone.

I like that you use the same verb for weddings as people use for exorcisms.

I also like the laughable idea that we would ever behave ourselves, regardless of your presence.

Have fun!

On further reflection, I think he made that half hearted request so that he wouldn't miss out on any fun. Although he doubtless will be behaving badly while out and about.

So behaving himself, in other words. Well, it's nice to know some things don't change.

Off from one soggy place to another. Gonna travel via float plane?

And no to the last bit *smirk*

Behave ourselves, eh?

Behave well, or normally?

Have fun!

If you're going to Bryan/College Station area again, there's this amazing steak place near there (out in the middle of nowhere, but most of the locals know about it). I especially recommend the Chicken-Fried Bacon, though it's a good idea to have a portable defibrillator handy if you try it.

Not that it's too close to Bryan, but if there's going to be an ice cream run to Brenham it'd be worthwhile to stop in Burton (pop. 200) and see if the Brazos Belle is still there.

It looks exactly like the typical BBQ joint, except it is, or was, a gourmet French restaurant, run by a retired chef. Walking in there was almost surrealistic. We were greeted by a waitress who was a big haired gum-snapper, but where the neon beer signs should have been was a display of fine wines. When he could get away from the kitchen, the chef would wander around the room chatting with folks and making recommendations. And the prices were comparable to Denney's.

:g: We can always behave. How we behave is, of course, different. Have fun!
