We have a local 26 yo gay activist that was badly beaten and then arrested and now is facing severe felony charges (up to 30 years in prison). Jason Robbins was protesting outside of a Repent America members home. Repent America... they're the organization that we see protesting pride events and LGBT rights campains. They have made it publically known that they advocate the bombing of abortion clinics and feel that homos need to be killed because the bible says it so. Yes, they are major bible thumpers people. Well, Brian Robbins was accused of attacking an officer and resisting arrest among other things which he did not do. He apparently just refused to show ID (which was dumb I admit).
I know it's X-mas and times are tough... but imagine what it's like for him right now. He needs money bad for legal fees. I donated to the cause... maybe you can donate $20 or whatever too? If you can spend $50 or whatever on a friend, don't you think you can afford to give something to this cause?

He is currently attending Philadelphia Community College where he is a member of the student newspaper, the Vanguard, and the Gay/Straight Alliance. Q: What is Anti-Racist Action?
A: Anti-Racist Action is an international movement of people dedicated to stopping racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of bigotry from harming our communities. We work hard to "expose, oppose, and confront" hate in whatever form threatens the diversity and safety of the places we live in and the people we live with. We also firmly believe in building a fun, diverse, liberated and explicitly anti-racist, anti-sexist and anti-homophobic youth culture.
Q: Who is Repent America and why does ARA consider them "fascist"?
A: Repent America - a local right-wing Christian fundamentalist group whose members were arrested at Outfest last year for harassing and attempting to intimidate festival participants - have announced their plans to "attend" Outfest again.
While Repent America claims to not take an extreme stance on the queer community - stating on their website that they "care about homosexuals and want to see them set free from sin and to love and serve God," their true fundamentalist politics were exposed for all to see in the Philadelphia City Paper.
In an interview with the City Paper, Michael Marcavage, the director of Repent America, remarked:
"…Homosexuals are to be put to death. The wages of sin is death. But I want to make it clear that I'm not advocating the independent killing of homosexuals ... I'm saying that the Government's duty is to uphold God's law." (Cover Story, "Jesus Geek Superstar," Doron Taussig, Feb. 3, 2005)
