Snow In This Part of California

California is a big place. We have deserts, mountains, valleys, plains, lakes, and Pacific beaches. I live in the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. We have blazing hot summers that reach over 100 degrees and winters that get as cold as the upper 20s. Just to the west there is Oakland and San Francisco. They are separated from where I am by hills that trap all of the fog and cold air. San Francisco is usually cold and foggy year-round. Oakland gets more sunshine, but it is usually warmer. I doesn't get as cold over there or as hot.

Today it snowed on Mount Diablo. The surrounding hills were covered in white snow. It was like a scene out of something on the East Coast. I would say that it snows only once every 7 years or so. Usually it is very light, but today it was heavier than ever before. When everyone woke up the hills were covered in snow. Some of the nearby cities that are higher up even had streets covered in a thin layer of snow. The top of Mount Diablo really had the most snow at over 3,000 feet.

Just a few days ago it was about 67 degrees. Now it is in the 40s during the day. This is truly cold weather for this area.

Most of us have dreams of going to new places and moving away from where we are. I totally understand that. I even thought about leaving for the longest time. However, yesterday I was just taking a walk through my neighborhood and it just seemed so perfect. The neighborhood was so quite and peaceful. The trees and houses in this area were just so beautiful. I got to see the sun set over the neighborhood. I like it here and I'd really hate to move. Who knows? Things can change at any moment, but I think I'll enjoy the view for now.
