The final board game

The board game is finished, built, painted and played with and been handed to the little ones for their amusement.

A link to my wife's blog where she gives detail on how it was built.

Here's the final board, complete with cardboard treasure chest for holding the pieces

What the kids love doing when they visit is drawing and make stuff. So we gave them blank flags to create their own pirate marks!

^ You can even see the Kraken's tentacles.

In their playing it, something very important came to light.

I have no rule to prevent camping.

It was near precognitive of me to remove the rule of stealing treasure when you sink a ship, cause that rule would have destroyed this game.

One of the kids didn't go after treasure, he instead hung around the winning players base, waited for them to get close, then attacked them. If he won, great, they lose their treasure, they have to start over, and the player is now annoyed. If he lost, so what? His base is like 5 squares away.

He did this for most of the game, all it did was annoy the other players and put him nowhere near winning.

Oh well, that's something to keep in mind for the future. Even with the best of intentions, if possibility exists, there will always be a ganker.
