I'm not straight edge. I never have been and most likely, I never will be. Though I admire Ian Mackaye for taking a stand against the nihilism that suffocated the early punk scene, his ideals have been perverted to the point where straight edge is nothing more than fanatic vegans marauding around clubs and knocking beers out of people's hands. I'm ( Read more... )

ok,i dont nessecarily like sXe but to assume that everybody who is edge is a prick is wrong, the guy who runs sound for cave9 is sXe but he doesnt x up and it doesn define him as a person, unlike somepoeple,so dont crtizice everybody cause of a few people.and anarchy is bullshit and will never happen cause nobody can mind there own goddamn buisness, and be senseble enought to stop killing.and we are all equal,im not better than anybody else but nobody is better than me either.we can be individuals, but when you stop thinking of people as equals then you lose all hope and sense of unity.

well put but i disagree with 2 things.

1. I didn't criticize everyone who is straight edge. I just said that I don't need straight edge to make me feel adequate as a person. As for Trent, though I don't know him very well, seems like an intelligent individual and not one to beat his chest about being sxe.

2. While we are all equal individuals on paper, we live in the bible belt, where hypocrisy and racism is rampant. Equality is a good thing, and a thing that I practice by not being racist against any one minority. Equality is also a useful thing, but until EVERYONE starts practicing it, no one will be entirely equal in the eyes of the human masses. While that is a horribly terrifying thing to take in, we can counter it by practicing equality.

Pro-choice? Meaning abortion, right (If not I suppose disregard the comment)? Once there's a child involved, it's not just the one person any more, right? Which would mean someone else's rights are being violated when the needle hits. Right?
