Got off work at about 1530.
Went with Castellani to pick up our jet skis in Orange Park.
Found out that jet skis were still broken. :(
Called a trailer to come and pick up the jet skis (we both drive Honda Civics, what do you want us to do? Strap the jet skis into our trunks? =_=).
1645, we decide to go to a forest-y type park. In the park, we find a railroad and a train passing by at a fairly fast pace.
"Five bucks says you won't jump on." he jokingly tells me.
"Five bucks says I will." I challenge him.
Without much intelligence, I spot an open car working its way up. I wait and wait, as it passes by, I lean/leap into it and am very surprised at how strange the instant acceleration felt. XD
Castellani is now running behind (falling behind too, I might add).
He jumps onto a car behind me.
We're shouting and make our way through the open cars and dangling off the sides yelling at people as we pass by them and in general, just having a good time.
As I said, without much intelligence. About an hour later (time flies when you're having fun... and you're in a train) we realize that we haven't seen any sign of civilization for the past 20 minutes or so. o_o
We can't find a way to the front to talk to the driver/director person. In the end, we decide to jump off. At about 1745, we're now in the middle of a forest with a swath cut out for the railroad tracks. The sun is disappearing behind the high tree-line and we're both getting just a bit scared. We begin backtracking along the track. Running for about a mile to two miles at a time.
After trekking in moonlight, being attacked by swarms of insects, hearing weird and scary forest sounds, and being hungry, we emerge someways south of Southside Blvd near Greenspeake or whatever that road name is. We were ~5 miles from our car now (~2015 time now) and we end up calling Zima to come pick us up. XD
So... word to the wise. Don't go train hopping unless you know where you're going and have parachutes to jump off with.
The train might not look like it's moving fast, but have you ever been drug down underneath a powerful ocean wave and it rolls you across the bottom of the ocean floor the entire length until you end up back on the beach? Well, that's kind of what it feels like when you jump off of a train. You land, impact the ground, and then roll forever across hard rocks and dry branches that leaves you scraped up. XD
