grant me this one wish I inhaled this oxygen with your scent in it. As I opened my eyes to your steady breathing and your heart’s beating. Involuntarily I smiled at the way your hair falls across your face, or was it the way your eyes flutter in your sleep? As my hand sweeps across your bare chest, you stirred in your sleep and you sighed.
Just when I thought this was just a dream, suddenly your hand slithered on my waist and tugged me close. And like a sacred promise, you whispered, “Don’t go.”
Words failed me so I just stay still. My lips frozen so I just reciprocated- I let my fingers danced across your stomach. I don’t think I deserve this.
“I thought you were sleeping,” I let the words fall.
“Then this must be a dream,” Your lips found mine. This was the answer I seek.
Lazily you traced my lips with your tongue like it’s the first time. Your hand caressing my spine- tingling it. My feet instinctively tangled with yours beneath the sheet and my hand found its resting place at the small of your back. No, this must be a dream.
“Good morning,” You mumbled. I smiled.
“You’re beautiful,” Again, you whispered. Again, I smiled.
“Have I told you, you’re perfect?” You insisted. I just smiled.
“Stop smiling. I’m running out of words to describe you.” You gave up. So, I kissed you. I hope that’s a good enough thank-you.
No more traces of lust, only lingering taste of longing. Every moan and every sigh was kept safely hidden in the darkness of night. This was nothing but mutual adoration for each other, in the moment, never forgotten.
Morning is supposed to be a new beginning. But we know it’s another ending. Morning is meant to be a new start. But we know it’s another lie. Behind closed door,s this must stay. Beyond prying eyes, we must stay. Until, one day when we are both strong enough.
“Jiyong…” You began you’re parting words. I shook my head, not listening.
“Let’s just stay here,” I nudged closer to your chest, to your scent, to you, “just for a while.”
I couldn’t see your face, but I could feel you smiling. I closed my eyes, drowning out the noisy schedules ahead and your hands pulled me closer still. You lied. I didn’t mind.
Until that one day, when we are brave enough. But until then.
