:D :D As someone who is very close friends with( and just beginning to date)a firefighter( Jersey City NJ Irish/Polish lad who just happens to be a Rev-War and Civil War reenactor) I say AWESOME!!!
On the five year change, oh MAN can I relate to where you;re coming from, though my choices were rather more stupid! Back in 97, when still a wet behind the ears co-ed and fresh out of a 2 year college relationship and with the self esteem of a battered squirrel, I chanced to meet a Canadian fellow online with whom I thought I was in love. I left my country and all that was familiar to me to to be with this man up in Canada.. Fast forward to 2004.. broken in spirit and body, the marriage over( no matter what I tried to do, LOTS of physical abuse), I returned to NJ and the haven of family and friends. But I was a completely different person, as were my friends. We'd all changed and moved on. Stupidly, I settled back into a relationship with the very same lad I'd broken up with before the cluster***k of my marriage began, but this time I had new perspective and realized that I was not so much in love with HIM, as I was in love with being with someone.

Yes, m'am. Since a lot happened in the last month or two, I've decided to take a break and move on to other things I need to getting going on. But I know at some point I'll return back to it, I did love it.
I'm sorry to hear about all that crap that you had to go through... it really does suck sometimes, I know... But the only positive spin I can put on it is that at least you now know more of what you do want and also what to look out for! I've realized I hate being alone... but sometimes it's a necessary evil in developing who you are to become. And you can only sometimes get to where you want to be through some rather unfavorable moments. But it's a big plus that you're wiser for it now!! As are the rest of us. I do hope that all is well and that you are doing much better now!! Sounds like you deserve it! And thanks so much!
