There are cameras everywhere - “It feels like a circus around here,” an intern says - clicking, flashing, blinding everyone just to make sure they get hold of the latest scoop, the flavor of the month.
YunHo keeps his head down as he walks with of of their managers along the hospital corridors. A few steps forward, a right turn, and a couple of steps more brings him in front of Room 221. He stops for a while as the manager keeps the media away. “I’m sorry, please give us some privacy,” he tells them, “The patient inside is very sick. She doesn’t need this kind of stress.”
“Who is the patient?” one of the press people ask, and a flurry of questions come flying out of the others’ mouths. YunHo shakes his head, opens the door and slips in.
She is sitting there with a weary smile, “I heard you were coming.”
He takes three long strides, gathers her in his arms, “I was so worried about you. You never even wrote back to me.”
“I was too weak to write, or even say anything,” she says. “But I’m glad you came.”
“You’re not mad at me?” YunHo asks, eyes reflecting worry.
She shakes her head and heaves a heavy breath. “I’m thankful that you’re here. This is more than I could ever ask for.”
But I want something more, he thinks. I want a miracle.
