Changing my LIIIIFFEEEE

Haven't posted in a while. No real news arts/crafts/hobby related. Although I did decide that when Trevor outgrows his crib (which is a matching Dinosaur bedset) we are going to do SPACE BEDROOM. Like glow in the dark stars, and rockets, and star trek, and star wars, and aliens and astronauts. I think it'll be super cool.

Also I am resolved to attend the Austin BJD convention this year - it is Renaissance themed! I didn't buy any tickets or register, I'm just going to go to the sales floor on free day. But still! I'm excited.

The only new doll that has caught my eye is this slightly pudgy, slightly ethnic looking oversized head girl:

She's by a company called "Orange Tea Dolls" and her name is "Greek." She hasn't been released yet, I don't remember if her measurments have been posted or not. If she's not too pricey, I may have to get her.

I quit my job. I moved to a city 5x larger. I changed careers. I'm selling my house. I'm under contract to buy a new house while currently living in an apartment.

Apartment living sucks. Dirty, dark, apartment. Most of the family stuff is in two storage sheds, only most of the essentials are in the apartment (a few essentials did not make it to the apartment - like the contents of the coat closet, and my shoes.)

New jobs suck. Trying to learn new software and new company politics. My position is Tax Accountant, and its new for the company. I'm also in a new department, and I'm the only personnel in that department so far. The company plans to hire someone to be my supervisor, and my colleagues (titles Financial Analyst, and I forget what else.) The meat of my job I have to learn from a lady, a Division Controller, who's worked for the company for nearly 30 years, and apparently has never had to delegate or supervise before. She's pissy and unforgiving of even the smallest mistakes. I'm pretty sure she decided I was incapable within my first week. The CFO supervises me since the position of my boss is unfilled, and he seems to understand the problem perfectly. So at least I am reassured that Cindy can't decide to fire me, and Gilbert (CFO) just wants me to keep working with her until I can get her to stop doing my job. I'm also miss my old coworkers, who were generally friendly. I don't really get to talk to anyone now.

I'm bleeding money in Amarillo. Its exciting to have lots of new restaurants and shops to explore, but my wallet aches.

After having to pack up my house, I'm rethinking my life. I want to be less stuff oriented. Dolls, being my newest hobby, is probably not going anywhere. But action figures. Knick nacks. I'm ready to part with those. And I'm realizing that the stuff in my house is a lot less important than the house itself. Going forward, I'd rather buy new windows, or upgrade electrical systems instead of buying a new couch.

Speaking of which, my house in Hobbs is still for sale. The realtor says its gets shown all the time, but there has only been one offer, and she advised us to ignore it because it was too low. I regret taking her advice. I should have countered. Originally I thought "Oh I just have to pay the mortgage" but that's a lie. I had to keep the electric and water on too. And I can't cancel the security system because those people say I signed a 5 year contract, and I can't prove otherwise because the contract is in storage. Sooooo maintaining the old house is expensive.

We are under contract for a home in Amarillo that I'm excited about, but is also a cause for worry. It tested positive for Radon (whatever that is), the electrical box is crap, and the water heater is both installed incorrectly and going to quit any day. The sellers didn't budge on the price at all during negotiations. We just submitted the 'repair addendum' yesterday to see if the sellers will agree to fix anything. I'm worried because I already went way over what I wanted to spend on the house, and I have a feeling the sellers are going to reject doing any repairs, and then I don't have any left over money to fix these things myself. I'll be out $600 if I walk away at this point.

I feel really beaten. I'm so tired. So many concerns. I know I have to give the job a year so I can learn it before I decide if I like it or not. I know that even if this house doesn't work out, I can just start looking for another. I'm just bummed.
