Doing lots of thinking here lately. Things like: Now I think I should have a baby, and my doll collection is too big and I should probably get insurance for it, and my house isn't big enough for all this stuff I should probably be saving for a down payment for a larger place.
So, we will start with the dolly news:
- My collection is officially 15 dolls! I ordered a BJD Dragon: Rot v.2 from Aileen Doll yesterday. I just love Rot so much! I couldn't help it! I opted not to get the body blushing because I think the pink resin would look great with some purples and blues, instead of just the browns that the company used.
- That's 5 new dolls this year though....which is a little overwhelming. Seth's body, Kid Dracula, Tara Byte, Kyo, unnamed F-05, and now Rot V.2. I guess I'm net 4 dolls, since I did sell Lylah. I'm thinking about selling Seth's body too. I know I just got it, but it doens't pose very well, despite my restringing efforts, and I am not doing anything with him. Plus, I've got all these other dolls to play with, he just takes a back seat. That head does look great on that body, excellent hybrid, but I don't think that's a good enough reason to keep him. I'll probably list him soon.
- I'm now collecting Val Zietler's Bitten Collection! I've got several of the pieces already, most I got a great deal on too. The first outfit I picked up fit Nelly really well, it's soooo cute.
Unfortunately, absolutely none of the other pieces fit Nelly at all. I'm pretty distraught over this. Additionally, the internet is in agreement that these outfits will not fit an SD10 gal either. So. I collected a bunch of clothes and have no dolls to wear them, which means...
- My next doll will be a Peakswoods Goldie! This increases my incentive to sell that minifee body too, so I can fund the purchase of a new doll. I didn't really want to get into SDs....but alas, now I'll have four of them!
- I called my insurance, Liberty Mutual, and the representative said that my insurance only covers up to $2,500 for collections, and Liberty Mutual does not offer optional increases. So I pretty much have to buy separate insurance. I did the math, and sitting by my bed-side is an easy $8,000 (about $6,000 in dolls, $1,500 in accessories, and $500 in bitten collection items). I searched DoA and was surprised that this wasn't a more widely discussed topic. Even when it was being discussed, the participants seemed very poorly informed, and appeared to be guessing at the facts. No one was mentioning amounts, or premiums, and almost no one mentioned who they had insurance through. There were two insurers linked in the thread
http://www.americancollectors.com/ and
http://www.collectinsure.com/. I'll be looking into those soon.
The much less exciting non-dolly news:
- Baby. I had a baby dream, and now my baby junk is all ready to get a little baby running around. Jason is in agreement that he will be stay-at-home dad and raise baby. I always imagined having a girl, and I've already named her Alice Luna Flanigan. Girls run in my family, but boys run in Jason's. I've spent many weeks trying to cope with the idea of 'what if it's a boy?' I think at this point I'm ready...although I have no idea what I'd name him. I'm going to see the doctor later this month and plan to ask about future baby having stuff.
- House. If I have baby, where is it gonna fit? I've got three rooms in the house that aren't living room kitchen and laundry room, and right now those rooms are my room, the exercise room, and the craft room. My craft room is already about to burst, I've put so much stuff in it, and I NEED the exercise room (I should probably exercise like, right now.) There is literally no place for a baby room. Ugh. I really like a lot of things about my house. It's small, but it's charming and updated, and CHEAP. LIKE SUPER CHEAP. I save a freakin ton of money by living here. Downsides are it's small, the backyard is terrible (too small, adjacent to neighbor's front lawn...yes my house is in a weird spot in relation to the other houses on this street), the neighborhood is pretty terrible (could be worse, but I literally can't walk the dogs out there...too much broken glass and strays), and it's in a poor school district. I've been blasting my money on all kinds of stuff though - like paying off my car, going to PAX in Seattle, then San Francisco, the Los Angeles, and buying lots of dolls and games and stuff. I really need to be saving more money for a down payment if I truly intend to get a new house.
