I bet all of you think that I haven't been paying attention to hockey on account of ME3 having taken over my life and my brain.
WELL YOU WOULD BE WRONG.
Or at least, slightly inaccurate. I'll admit that during the month of March I watched the games almost exclusively via DVR, rather than live. And as such, I *ahem* filtered out the games that I knew ahead of time would make me rage. I've gotten back to watching them live this month, but I still haven't been posting about them here, there, or anywhere. (There has been some forum/comm stalking however. Sometimes it's nice to just be a ghost...)
ANYHOW, my boys are in the playoffs!!! *bounces and jumps and twirls* Overall, I have been THRILLED with their performance this year. There have been some upsets of course (*cough*WinterClassic*cough*OrJustEveryGameAgainstTheRangers*cough*) but considering the fact that our ENTIRE TEAM was reconstructed after last season, I have to say that ending up as 5th Seed for our Conference is pretty damn awesome.
In round 1, we're going up against the Penguins. Which, if you know anything about our clubs, you'll know is just a bit of a rival of ours. Just a bit. We've won four of six games against them this year. (Most annoyingly we lost against them this past Saturday.) And our track record against them in the playoffs is so-so (we've lost the last two series that we've played them in). But as far as I'm concerned, that doesn't matter two shits at this point, because our team is all new, and there is just no telling how the match up will work.
I AM nervous that Crosby is going to be back on the ice. Very, VERY nervous. But, I'll just have to keep my fingers good and crossed, and hope for the best! And hey! Our goalie has been earning his keep a lot more recently, so we have that going for us for a change! (So nice to not have to worry about us playing goalie roulette this year...)
I'm also anticipating at least several dozen phone calls from my nephew down in Georgia. As he spent a good chuck of his life living outside of Pittsburgh, and so him and his father like to harass me when the Penguins play the Flyers Not because they are hockey fans, but because they like to annoy me.
Gotta love your family though, right?
