I finished a great book called phantastes. I wrote some little music for it on my piano. It was fun. But... I am starting to underline quotes in books now. Here are a few (cause this magic book is full of em)

"If my passions were dead, the souls of the passions, those essential mysteries of the spirit which had imbodied themselves in the passions, and had given to them all their glory and wonderment, yet lived, yet glowed, with a pure, undying fire."

"where two love, it is the loving of each other, and not the being beloved by each other, that originates and perfects and assures their blessedness"

"good is always coming; though few have at all times the simplicity and the courage to believe it."

"Past tears are present strength... Tears are the only cure for weeping"

"They who believe in the influences of the stars over the fates of men, are, in feeling at least, nearer to the truth than they who regard the heavenly bodies as related to them merely by a common obedience to an external law. No shining belt or gleaming moon, no red and green glory in a self-encircling twin-star, but has a secret relation with the hidden things of a man's soul, and, it may be, the secret history of his body as well. They are portions of the living house where he abides."

this last one, sadly, I cut short, though in its entirety is incredibly interesting to ponder. It seems even almost prophetic, considering the the time period in which the author is writing (mid to late 1800s). Here is one by C.S. Lewis, about the author, who is a sort of literary hero to him i think.

"We have learned from Freud and others about distortions in character and errors in thought which reslult from a man's early conflict with his father. His whole life illustrates the opposite process. From his own father, said he, he first learned that Fatherhood must be at the core of the universe"
