Insanity
Yes, I'm generally seen and evaluated as 'sane'.
However, I did also agree to be prepared and leave for Sweden by Wednesday.
I considered the idea, while weighing the option of Finland for the same 4 weeks period, for 2 days.
Then...BAMB!...I give myself 1.5 to 2 days to prepare for the trip.
It's not insane...I have done things like this before.
And actually I might (probably will) spend 2 more weeks afterward in Finland. For one, I have to have another visa to come home.
Ah! This means that I have to have a pile of documents!
Luckily, most of those are prepared. Unfortunately, I prepared them all for Finland and thus I will be required to stop in Helsinki on the way home to secure my new visa. (Another good reason to stop in and work for a few weeks when I have the chance.)
[This is actually compounded by the fact that there remains a chance that I will have to return to America from Sweden or Finland...and I will be leaving most of my things at home in Russia. While if I do go, I will have certain excitement for the business at hand, however I have some apprehension as the America that I left was a somewhat different place than I will return to.]
I like these little opportunities in life. I also like the flexibility I have with this American passport. Too bad it takes so much work to get a visa when I want to come home.
OK...I have to gather paperwork and pack and finish things up around here.
Hopefully I'll be writing some while I'm there.
Probably not, but it might be nice to visit SIPRI while I'm there. I doubt it, and haven't really the credentials to get in the door. But then, they seem to be nice enough people there. But really...I won't have time and I'll probably not have money.
But, it looks like my girlfriend will very probably be visiting me in Sweden for at least 1 of those weeks. That's nice. We seem to need the vacation and it is that time of year that we normally take one.
Oh, I got a haircut yesterday too. (No more curly, wavy ends on my lengthening hair. I'll miss the length some, but it's nice to be rid of those curls too.)
