Factory defect! Fan blade poking through the front grill! Couldn't be fixed!
Returned!

New fan, also purple, works!

And Friday Kaango Puppy Page: perfectly delightful little cairn terrier puppies, just like the Stinky Terrierist, only littlebittybaby-sized with big old bumbly heads. I am a puddle of adoring baby-talk goo right now. Oh! By the way, the S.T.'s horrible breath is caused by kidney disease, the poor thing (I am feeling sorrier for myself, actually. The bad breath doesn't seem to bother him at all but it makes me turn green).

The weather has gone back to its normal chill. At last. I like that we have to travel to visit uncomfortably hot weather, as well as the snow and serious cold. On one hand you have "seasons", as some blustering, defensive people like to define the extreme meteorological phenomena they are forced to endure, as though seasonal changes are significant only in their more pronounced manifestations. And on the other hand, you have the subtle changes in the light and air, the shifting of the shadows, the slow cooling and warming (excepting of course San Francisco which only has delightful variations in coolness as a rule), the beginning of the welcome rains. I just LIKE Coastal California weather.

So, I just read somewhere that mosquitos prefer women, and they especially like to bite beer-drinking women. I am going to change my camping tipple to bourbon. Speaking of which: Camping at the hippie land in Sebastopol! Goats!Chickens! the maniac Katrina dog Buddy! The S.T. has a man-crush on Buddy, who really is a handsome and sweet lovely beast when all is said and done--just a teensy bit psychotic when it comes to the issue of fetching. He's a black Lab who is DYING to fetch things--to the point of attacking you when you seem about to throw something for him to fetch. He needs one of those automatic thing-throwers to get it all worked out. Or to fetch till he is satiated and worn down to an exhausted little Buddy stick-figure once and for all though it may reinforce his mania. Ah well. We may be going around Labor Day, we think, if not sooner. Or later.
