This week=business. Monday I had a job interview with mosquito control, and if I'm lucky, I'll begin work in April. Given the wedding, honeymoon, and two of us in Ph.D. next year, I'm really hoping that I begin work ASAP. Yesterday Meghan had her thesis defense and passed with exceptional glory, despite her terror that she wouldn't make it through. Just as she finished with that I had a meeting with my new adviser in the UofMN history department and the department chair of the HIstory of Science and Technology department. It sufficient to say that I'm thrilled with each of them, but most particularly my adviser, who cheered "He's so good!" as she left our meeting. I think I'll be her first real advisee and possibly the only person studying Japanese history at the UofMN at the grad level, so I think she might have had a feeling that I was just "let in," to be *that* guy who's studying Japanese history, but when I announced that I'm already going through reading lists and communicating with the Japanese community, she felt incredibly relieved.
The purpose of this week, however, is for a wedding in California. Stress on all levels for all people, but soon enough, we'll be celebrating the union of two awesome people that I will soon be able to call family. Rawk.
On to that pre-emptive studying now.
