part i - the easy part.

This begins a series of updates. I've been meditating at work this morning, so there may be a doozy of posts today. For the first time in a long time, my mind feels somewhat fertile.

I'll start of with something light, in which i'll talk about the movie "Saw," which i saw last night. I won't comment on the fact that people seemed to have dressed up to go to the movies, which is cool. I will comment, however, on Jordan Hackel's simple yet awesome Robert Goulet costume/performance. It brightened by 'ween.

Anyways, "Saw."

I tried to find a positive review, and here it is: "Saw boasts an undeniably original premise and clever plot machinations that lift it several notches above the usual slasher film level."

i wouldn't recommend trying to find any other positive reviews, as it apparently isn't going to be much of a critical hit. All i'll say is that yes, it's overly gorey, maniacally twisted, and possibly even unnecessarily frightening. But i freaking loved every minute of it. I thought it was terrifically shot, dark and creepy as fuck. while some of Jigsaw's scenarios for his victims echoed parts of "Seven," to one degree or another, i thought the situations he put the people in were deviously clever (with the exception of the puppet -- i won't elaborate, as to possible bring spoilers into the mix). The main trap itself is perfectly terrifying.

in short, if you have an iota of appreciation for a scary movie, i personally believe you will love this show. so scary. my jaw dropped for at least the last two minutes of the show, and stayed that way until about a minute into the credits, when i was finally able to reconcile the ending in my mind. i was totally blown away.

mad props to everyone involved except the guy playing the doctor. i don't know if william shatner ever held workshops for overacting, but if he did, this guy was the fucking valedictorian.
