Authors note- Ok, someone please tell me why when I try and write a drabbley ficlet my bunny mutates until the idea is COMPLETELY different!? Seriously people! This started out as fluff!

Ah well this was fun to write, although I don’t know whether it’ll be that much fun to read!

This is dedicated to put_that_away  because she inflates my ego so much, especially when I’m feeling low!
Speaking of ego! All comments are welcome, even if its just to tell me to NEVER EVER write drabbles again!

Thunder clapped and the lightning screamed through the sky, seeping through the slightly open blinds in Ianto Jones’ bedroom and making everything flash every second or so, the short bursts light causing shadows to creep across the walls before falling back again. The man in question whimpered and pulled himself into a tighter ball. He hated being alone, especially on a night like this. He hated this being in this big, empty world and not having anything to lean onto.

Ianto Jones was always type cast as peoples go-to guy, the one they all go to when they need a shoulder to cry on, but no one ever asked Ianto what he wanted, whether he needed a shoulder to cry on, he was just there, someone to take the pain for others and himself with a word of compliant. Maybe that's why he had been so intent on keeping Lisa alive long after the point where he knew she was no longer his to cry on. She was the only person to ever just ask, without any ulterior motive, she just asked because she wanted to know, she wanted him to be alright. But now Lisa was gone, and Ianto had no choice to but to carry one, to face the fact that he was alone, to face the fact that he had no one.

The world continued to crash and scream around him and Ianto kept his eyes tight shut, trying to dispel the thoughts that were pooling in his mind. He pulled the covers up around him and tried to pretend that he was anywhere else. Suddenly the bed dipped behind him and then arms around his waist. Ianto instinctively turned and clung to the arms around him, trying to gather some comfort from them, but it wasn’t right, the arms didn’t feel right, they were defferent. It made him want to push away and cling tighter at the same time.

It wasn’t fair, why should one man be able to change everything he thought was right and wrong? Why should everything have to change just because one Captain Jack Harkness took an interest in him? Ianto wanted to scream and kick him away, and he wanted to cling onto the other man, to hold onto until he had to let go, he didn’t want to, he didn’t want to become another notch on the Captains metaphorical wall but he couldn’t stop himself.

“Shhh ..It’s ok ...It'll be ok” Jack soothed into his ear, running his hands over Ianto’s back. It was only then that Ianto realised he was crying, silent tears streaming down his face, blurring his vision. He blinked hard and tried to move slightly, trying to create some distance between himself and the man who told him to shoot the love of his life. But he realised it was pointless, he knew what was happening to him, he was falling for Jack. He was falling hard and fast and he didn’t know how to catch himself. And yet, even though he knew this, he just couldn’t stop, something edged him forwards, some unknown force pushed him to become closer and closer to that edge and he knew that one day he’d fall completely and there would be no way to stop himself.

And that thrilled him more than anything.
