It's weird being an import game player because then the rest of the world catches up to stuff I've already played and in some cases, already forgotten. Right now NA is excited about Xenoblade and Graces f, while Europe got Xenoblade and now is going to get Last Story... well, out of those three, Xenoblade's definitely the best. Graces f was pretty good too but I'm getting ever more cynical and I really hate Bamco's recent repeated 完全版 tactics. At least Graces f added some story and oh yeah, a non-ambiguous ending, so I suppose it's worth it. As for Last Story... I just want to get a megaphone and tell the entirety of Europe "DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH! IT'S TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT!". Cause yeah, that game was really bad.
Though these days, I don't know if just more and more games are disappointing me, or if I'm just growing old and being left behind the times. Certainly Last Story was a bad game. But I've also been disappointed by Tales of Xillia. None of tri-Ace's recent efforts have really impressed me, certainly not any of the games in the current console generation - End of Eternity was just odd, Infinite Undiscovery was just plain awful, and even Star Ocean 4 was relatively disappointing compared to my nostalgia days with SO3 and VP2 and VP1 and SO2. And then there's Squenix itself. Any game that Toriyama writes is bound to be a mess of deus ex machina's and unexplained plot threads and teasers in the ending that never get explained (see FF13, Dissidia, and Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday). Type-Zero was kind of like this too, and Toriyama didn't even do the writing for that, IIRC. Though, I was actually not disappointed by Type-Zero. I have a feeling 13-2 is going to disappoint me, though.
Hmm, RPG-wise I can't think of anything coming out that I'm interested in. The games I'm interested in right now are Musou games (Musou Orochi 2, One Piece Kaizoku Musou) and fighting games (Soul Calibur V, DOA5). And I probably won't even play the latter category that much, because I certainly don't have time to practice combos anymore.
