... let's see now... after the Old Peculier Fun, which was in actual fact meeting up with Ali, Andrew and Col in the Swan near work, and not moving until I'd a) woken up (first pint), b) regained the ability to speak (second pint), c) started singing along to all the songs (third pint), and d) actually felt like a human being again (fourth and subsequent pints), I slept. Oh, it was blissful sleep! And I enjoyed it so very much. Thanks for everybody's comments and concern.
Saturday had been earmarked mostly for staying at home during the day and attending
vardebedian's birthday party in the evening, but spontaneous and random fun beckoned, and as ever I followed its call. Actually,
missyk8's call, to be exact; she was looking for people to hang out with in Covent Garden, so off to CCK I toddled, there to drink tea with Kate, and also meet Tom, and Rin (separately, with an excursion to Forbidden Planet in between), and a most pleasing afternoon it was too. For dinner, Kate and I went to Gili Gulu, and the food was better than last time, so that was good. A quick phonecall with Col told me that he wouldn't be leaving the house, and so I made my way up to Turnpike Lane alone... but that was ok, there were LOTS of lovely people at the PixieHaus. It was really great to catch up with everyone and meet yet more new people, to dance in the kitchen with Brian and Terrie and a very spacked Pixie, and then collapse in a drunken heap during the Buzz Game. Nobody remembers what time we went to bed, but Lani and I were up again around 9:00, for tea and brioche and the morning papers.
I remembered very late indeed that the second installment of the Hitchcock season was on today, leaving only half an hour to get from Turnpike Lane to Hampstead, with the Northern Line and Hampstead station both closed. Just as I'd resigned myself to not seeing it, and Col still not well enough to join me either, Brian very kindly offered to give me a lift, which was fun because I'm a little uncertain of North London geography, he's not local, and we thought we didn't have a map. A road atlas turned up, and was immediately helpful; in the end, I missed the first half an hour of the talk, but the cinema people let me in anyway, and I then got to see Notorious, which was excellent. And yes, I was making mental notes on the clothes the whole way through... I headed straight home afterwards, as I was starting to feel very much like curling up with the papers, which I duly did.
Oh, I just remembered,
terriem admonished me about my tales of woe from work. I am to tell you that I secretly enjoy being really busy, and now she'll stop worrying about me. It's ok, I exacted my revenge on her by tying her up with her own dress! And very fetching a dress it was too, quite quite blue, I'd be tempted to get one exactly like it if I thought I could get away with it.
PS: also, here's something I found for
denari:
How to be: Emo, which is about a film you can find buried at
What'sEmo.com. It's worth digging for, it's very funny indeed. Argh, just in finding the links I've giggled more than I have all day - those voices! Go look. Especially at the "Original Emo" version.
