ETA of DOOM: Okay, wow, I've been having horrible luck with beta's recently - nobody's fault, just bad timing, it seems, what with the end of summer and the beginning of school for most. So. Anyone up for rigorously beta'ing my Ryan crossdressing AU? I'm pretty sure it's going to need a lot of attention, and it's about 55 pages long, so. Anyone? Pretty please? *desperate puppy-eyes* I know I had a couple volunteers for a quick beta job last time, but this one really needs some work, I'm being honest here. * I'm on again, off again with my One Crazy Summer AU. I have this thing, when I take prompts, where I don't actually follow the prompt. I go off into crazy tangents and it ends up barely resembling the movie, but whatever. The movies I picked are pretty simple ones, so I don't think it'll matter. If I'd totally fucked up Red Dawn, on the other hand.
* Right now, I'm trying to write Jon and Spencer in the bathroom for my AU. I don't write porn, so I have no idea what I'm doing, but whatever. Jon can't resist Spencer. Instead of attempting to write dirty things, I'm posting nonsense. What shall I do to procrastinate? I'm sort of dicking around with the school!verse. It's not actually a fic or anything, but I came up with this in the comments:
Patrick is a concerned father! Pete thinks kids are AWESOME! They like DINOSOARS just like him!! Patrick thinks Pete is "special" in the short-bus sense! But Pete is just enthusiastic about everything, and he LOVES Patrick, and he loves that they keep running into each other at the music store, and Pete is - oh my god, Pete is an ASPIRING KID SONGWRITER! He needs Patrick to sing his songs about kittens and crossing the street and the buddy-system and state capitals!
And then I came up with this:
Patrick would be like, dude, these are the wrong capitals! Pete would be like, but they rhyme! Pete knows that rhyming is an important part of kids' songs. Patrick: "Okay, see, the trick is to make it rhyme and be factually correct."
Patrick writes the music for advertising jingles and the occasional TV theme song. Pete thinks this is awesome, especially since Patrick's apparently the genius behind The Backwater Space Adventures of Carl and Peanut's theme that has lots of xylophones in it, and Pete thinks xylophones are pretty much THE instrument for space-themed programs. Plus, it's catchy and he hums it in the shower.
And then sometime after that I decided this:
Pete and Bob hang out when Pete stays as a recess aid! Spencer is Ryan's roommate and works at the music store that Pete and Patrick keep bumping into each other at! Ray works there, too, and Ray is friends with Bob's roommate Frank, who DRIVES THE ICE CREAM TRUCK AROUND PATRICK'S NEIGHBORHOOD!
Frank would be an AWESOME ice cream man! He'd drive Bob crazy humming the ice cream mobile music all the time and he'd leave him extra creamsicles in the freezer and GERARD WOULD HAVE TOTALLY DECORATED HIS TRUCK!
So maybe at some point this'll become something that has an actual storyline, who knows. It's kind of ridiculous.
