Well, I felt lethargic today, so spent most of the day playing FFTA (now some 25 hours in.)
But I did get to the Central Standard Film Festival for another program of shorts.
"Peluca"--Seth and his buddies skip class to buy a wig. Very odd.
"Lawn Chairs"--Drawings of lawn chairs moved to syncopated music. Quickly grew very tedious, and was three minutes too long at four minutes.
"The Coast"--Janitor at St. Paul's First Bank building falls in love with a woman who might be someone from his past. Not bad.
"Little Drummer Boy"--a precocious child with a gift for rhythm. Funny.
"Manidoo Nibaa (His Spirit is Sleeping)"--A look at a Native American kid not sure what path to take in life, and thus doing poorly trying to take two at once.
"Second Place"--An overcompetitive bakery worker shares an apartment with a lucky slacker. Funny yet painful.
"The Pizza Guy"--a short documentary about a pizza delivery person. Just as long as it deserved to be.
"Betty Benson and the Bowtie Boy(s)"--A reimagining of a children's book that might not actually exist, about chocolate bunnies and self-doubt. Interesting and spooky.
"Last Summer"--Three women move packages cross-country, but one of them isn't going to the same place as the others. Baffling, and not as satisfying as "She's Leaving Home."
"Blink"--An animated family of worms discover that their apple home is endangered. Funny.
"Karma Wheel"--Two brothers discuss philosophy, with a possible practical demonstration. Very funny.
"Ocularist"--A documentary about a man who make artificial eyeballs. Fascinating if wince-producing. The director is way too enamored of "flash" effects, though.
All in all, I'm glad I had the chance to see this many films.
