My mum has a fasting blood test this morning to check her liver function etc is ok with the medication that she has to take. They won't refill her prescription fully until she has one done and her doctor gets the results for safety.
So she hasn't eaten for 12 hours and is trying to get to the hospital for blood tests. My father took some time off work this morning to stay at home and let my morning carer in (there is a stupidly long story involving insurance policies and electronic keysafes that I will spare you) so technically he is around for a little while today.
Mum was awake most of the night with breathing problems, and had already decided to present herself at casualty at the hospital if it does not improve. She was going to get a taxi but the main local firm is busy (very rarely happens) and she is worried enough about being hospitalised for several days that she has left me the money downstairs for my osteopathic home visit Wednesday and money for Thursday.
My father was still asking her at this point why she can't go by her mobility scooter. It's not even the hospital that she can get to that way. She will have to wait on the corner for one of the buses that come every half hour (in the predicted rain) at this rate. She can't fucking breathe properly, has food/blood sugar problems (like me) when she does not eat and she is utterly exhausted.
She looks and sounds terrible but my father has effectively trumped her physical safety with his mental health, which has happened more frequently again lately and just makes me want to shout at him when that happens but that would just make things worse :(
He won't even go and see if any of the neighbours can stay in just until my carer comes (due in the next half hour) and then offer to take mum to hospital.
So mum has had to go by herself and I just have to hope she is ok :(
