Skipping Christmas

Dec 23, 2011 20:46

Christmas is sort of a non-event for me this year. I'm working all weekend, and my roommate is going home, so I'll be on my own, either at work or with my cat until Tuesday. I haven't done any decorating or much baking. Hardly any shopping. Christmas cards aren't happening, and I haven't written a Christmas letter yet. I haven't wrapped anything, and don't actually own any wrapping paper. Working nights in the middle of winter just saps my will to do almost anything else.

I'll be going home to see my parents for a few days starting Tuesday, but I'll miss my sister and her family, since they are coming home to Seattle that day. Bah.

So ... um ... happy holidays, everyone.

ETA: OK, feeling better about things now. Bought some gifts online, and wrote and emailed my Christmas letter. There's not actually much else I still need to do. I'm thinking about having an un-Christmas on the 25th, doing all the things one wouldn't normally do on Christmas. Smoking my hookah pipe, watching TV, eating leftover macaroni. Sounds like a nice evening (until I have to go to work, anyway).

holidays, work
