(no subject)
Today was scheduled to be many Acen meetings, but one got cancelled because our con chair, who lives in Louisville, didn't make it up here due to the weather. It didn't actually snow but pretty well threatened to. Brent's board meeting was at 11 (which we were late to) and then the actual meeting was at 1. That let out about 2, and then there was networking, and Brent and I went and looked at some of the suites at the Hyatt for posterity, and then we went to Target and got Some Things, including $5 DVDs (whee) and looked at other things. I think I know what I can get for Brent for Christmas, but it's hard. I asked him what he wanted today and he sort of shrugged. Sigh... Silly selfless significant others.
Also, my dad's in town for a surprise visit and had asked this past week if he could stay at our place. It's surprisingly stress-free. We have a futon in the computer room and apart from the fact that we have to feed one of our cats in the living room instead of the computer room, it's not disruptive at all. I am clear about my schedule and Dad's easygoing about it, because he knows he usually comes in on short notice. Last night we went to Sushi Para II on Clark St, and it was sooo tasty. It's been too long since I had good sushi. And this Sushi Para doesn't overload the sushi with rice, either. A lot of those all-you-can-eat sushi places just pile on the rice to fill you up. Today I cooked some stir-fried rice with leftovers from work (veggies from the salad bar + the last of the turkey from Thanksgiving + rice from Tuesday's special) and my favorite Asian marinade/sauce consisting of soy sauce, rice vinegar, Chinese five-spice, honey, sambal (you can use red chili flakes or cayenne too) and, today, also fish sauce. It was pretty tasty.
Now Brent's asleep on the other couch, Panda's asleep on the arm of the couch to my left, and Makkuro's asleep against my right side. I feel myself getting sleepy...
