EX-cellent day yesterday...

Fact of the day has not yet arrived in my inbox, so you get no fact...

Sad news: The Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin passed away. News story here

Since Ray's brother was with us all weekend, Ray brought him to the CNE with me when I went with my mom, brother and stepsisters. Yesterday at the CNE was fun! We got to go shopping (nothing really great this year -- though I did get 10 shiny silver bangles for 2 bucks -- which is about how much I'd pay if I went down to Gerrard and bought them) and eat lotsa good foods: I had cajun Alligator pepperettes, Elk sausage, Buffalo (bison) burger with peameal bacon, and a Beaver tail ... 'kay, so the last one's not really so exotic, but is increasingly rare to find in Toronto... according to their websitte they're only at Wild Water Kingdom, the CNE/Ontario Place, and The Zoo. Of course, there was cotton candy and ice cream, too. Sadly, the line was far too long for Tiny Tom Donuts
when we were leaving, so we broke that CNE tradition this year. :(

We did play the Birthday Game and lil sis C rolled the die and my month was rolled, so I got to pick a prize. They had stuffed Fraggles! So I got myself a Wembley, whom I, of course, named Wash. We played one of those watergun racer games and Ray won a stuffed baby penguin, whom he named Blizzard. It had to have a "B" name if it wanted to live on our bed... all of our other stuffed animals' names start with B: Bobo (x2), Bear, Bitty Bear, Baby Iceberg, now Blizzard. Though Blizzard is the odd one out, he's the only non-bear. I hope he adjusts to his new home and his new family... 'Kay enough silliness 'bout a stuffed animal...

Mom bought me a bag for my birthday (but I have to act surprised when I open it...) It's really neat: It's a ZipperBag -- it's made out of one long zipper. She got me the navy/burgundy "Go Big" bag.

Hmmm. I think that's it... saw some friends from bowling and chatted with them for a while in the Food building...

There are fewer and fewer buildings and displays at the Ex, and that makes me sad. The Flower shop is now this tiny thing in the hallway between the Ricoh Coliseum and the National Trade Centre (now called the Direct Energy Centre -- I wish people would stop renaming all these things!!!), instead of in the Horticultural building, which was closed -- another building on site has been sold to become a new night club called Muzik... The Ex is becoming more about the midway and carnival aspect than the original intention of a fall fair, featuring farming fun (howzzat for alliteration), but I guess times change...

Today, Labour Day, is the last day for the Pirate Festival, so we are going today. :) :) :) So excited! I'm assuming that the plans from before haven't changed, so I'd better start to get ready, since we're meeting people in about 2 hours and I'm still in my pyjamas and not breakfasted, and need to go to the bank.

Wow, an actual post from me. Hope y'all enjoyed it.

life, food!, family, sadness
