keep love in your heart

Quick recap before I dive into the craziness that will be next week.

Monday - GOT in the evening with J. I'm literally on the edge of my seat for the upcoming episodes for this season. Not only was it the first time I've ever watched the trailer for the next episode, I watched it TWICE. Refuse to add any spoilers here, but needless to say, I can't wait to catch the next episode tomorrow.

Tuesday - Quick 4.6km jog with J and HIIT after, both of which were EXTREMELY PAINFUL. My stamina has gone to shits so has my strength. There's really so much to catch up on on the fitness front.

Wednesday - Dinner with Chloe and Daniel on Wednesday. I so drained from the super busy day at work, but it has been a while since we met Chloe, I figured it would be good to just spend time with her, even if it met stoning in each other’s presence. I really admire how she manages to juggle a full time job, while looking after a toddler, WHILE pregnant... all without a full time helper. Did I mention that even pregnant at 6 months she runs faster than I ever would? We got to talking about motherhood and what I liked is how she doesn't sugarcoat the conflicts she faces between being selfish and giving up everything to, as she says, the altar of motherhood. Her facebook rants provide a very realistic view of motherhood, which I suspect many of which I would share, if I were so lucky to have the opportunity to be a mother in future. :)

As much as I love Chloe and Daniel, I can't help but feel awkward when Chloe's trying to discipline him and he looks at me with those doleful eyes, almost deploring that I save him. His large eyes and sad pouty face coupled with typically cheery, bubbly Chloe's stern mommy face is such a comical sight I always struggle really hard not to giggle each time. But really, Chloe is such a wonderful mom to Daniel. I'm looking forward to Andy joining the fold!

Thursday - Had to put in a bit more time at work and was the last person in the office. By the time I had left, it was too late to climb with MM, so I ended up headed home on the bus. Halfway home, Mama C confirmed that we didn't have any food. I was hungry for chicken wings so I hopped off the bus, switched routes to J's place, where he brought me to Chomps for chicken wings. This late night dinner thing is probably not great for my fat arms and fat belly, but it was so satisfying!

Friday - J and I shared a little tense moment over his work situation during the day via text. By night it was still a little uncomfortable and I felt extremely helpless not being able to make him feel better. Thankfully, after surprisingly filling and affordable Korean at Guiga and a walk through the MAAD market, things were almost back to normal again. We even managed a spot of durian together with my family even though he absolutely isn't a fan of durian. :)

Saturday - My morning was supposed to be with Twigs at the batting cage - our millionth rescheduled appointment. Unfortunately, she had to get her dad to the A&E last minute, so that didn't work out again. It was all good though... I ended up having a sausage mcmuffin with J, baking an orange pound cake with my mum and then doing a quick pole practice at home.

On pole - my shoulder and arm seems to be responding to the small exercises and the rest. It hurts a lot less when I go for pole. I’m slowly regaining the confidence to execute some of the simpler tricks. It really sucks seeing the progress that I’ve made over the past few months diminish into... well, nothing. I'm beginning to get giddy from the spins. My skin gets really sensitive when it touches the pole. Pole feels really foreign yet familiar at the same time, and I can't exactly place why :( The couple of videos I took at my practice session showed such poor form, I had to delete them before I threw up from the disgust at myself. I'm exaggerating of course, but you know what I mean.

Saturday afternoon.
MM and I went by to Josh's place to bake deep dish pizza. MM and I had never had deep dish pizza but had a craving after seeing Rl's pictures from her Chicago trip. Josh offered to make it at his place, so we did!

This quarter slice made me SO full I wasn't hungry till a good 6 hours later!

Could have used more cheese, but Josh bought the ingredients and it was his place, so we didn't quite have control over the quantity. The pie was a bit on the high side due to the pan that we were using and the crust was a bit much thicker than I am used to, but it was definitely interesting. Rl has agreed to make it together - I can't wait :)

I've been spending more time in the kitchen of late - made apple crumble for J last week as well as attempted muah chee again - and this is so not helping with my weight loss plans.

Saturday evening.
J and I hung out with his friends. We played a round of Hanabi with his friends after taking turns to nanny the only child in the group. We had spent the weekend before with my friends over mahjong and for some irrational reason, I felt a little guilty for taking time away that he could have spent with his friends. So while I was absolutely knackered from the day's activities, it was nice spending time with his friends. :)

Sunday We took the rare opportunity of a free Sunday (thanks to a pole term break) to finally utilise the sand-proof beach mat that J had bought a while back. Our day got off to a lucky start when we managed to get 3 peanut buns from the bakery that almost always sells out the moment they're out from the oven. We were blessed with rather nice sunny but cool weather. We read our books, I learnt how to throw a frisbee, we walked to the Southern! Most! Point! Of! Continental Asia! I never knew that that existed on Palawan Beach.

For lunch, J introduced me to chicken wings at Coastes and it was pretty awesome. I was actually rather surprised to find decent food in what I had always dismissed as overpriced restaurants at Sentosa.

Afterwards, we came home where we had a failed photoshoot with Xiang. I had arranged this because J and I are both awkward spiders in front of the camera, and after seeing his pretty awesome photos from recent photoshoots for his friends, I hoped that the 2 of us could actually have a decent photo together. As an illustration, here's some pictures from us at the beach earlier in the day.

Unfortunately, the sky was overcast and the light was a bit crummy, so as J tried to introduce me to chess (my first time ever!), Xiang took some pictures. The results were hilarious.
There were a couple more, but my arms look as gigantic and my face absolutely hideous - J even posted one where my head was resembled one of those square watermelons. The quality of the pictures notwithstanding, I think the pictures pretty much depicts our relationship so far.

We ended our day with a dinner and then waffles with my family, where my dad regaled us with stories from his army days.

It was a rather eventful week, filled with much warmth (I'm so burnt - such a bad pun), laughter and love. Work next week is going to be even more challenging, but I'll make it through somehow. (I have to, I actually have no choice).

Gotta head to bed to recharge for the week, so ending this haphazard recap off with very unflattering but happy picture from today.
