I think getting Nick and Frook in those categories is more of a fan thing than something on the show. How are Nick or Freddie less established than Chris or JJ? Not that I want to put them in boxes, but in terms of the show, they're all in the same place, imo. I do think with Matty maybe there's something left open there because of that comment he made and that didn't sound like a joke made by him.
I feel like the show doesn't really want to label their characters and in general they're all minded and open to experiments. For some reason I could see Cassie actually in a relationship with a girl, but with Tony it all felt more like a game and he'd never really be with a guy.

I haven't seen any indication for Nick to start taking up an interest in men (as much as I wouldn't mind seeing it), but Freddie... I mean, I don't know. Pascal's Triangulation of Desire was there, whether the writers intended for it to be or not. I definitely get where people come from in terms of Freddie's sexuality. Like you said, they don't want to label their characters, so I'm not gonna try and say he's gay or anything. Just that he was emotionally invested in Cook and may've had sexually repressed feelings for him.
Well I agree a lot of people's opinions are shaped by what they like in fandom, to play devil's advocate we've never really seen Nick having a healthy or good sexual experience with a woman (maybe going down on Mini), and it would fit his whole trying to be somebody he thinks he's supposed to be, then giving it up thing. I could see Nick pulling a less creepy Tony-type thing experiementing. With the Frook, there was some pretty obvious tension between the two, which some can read as sexual tension, plus their relationship and friendship had a lot of sex in it, Effy, Cook's mom, I can't recall exactly but I feel Karen should be on there too. But yeah, they were both pretty established as liking the muff. Chris they establish firmly in the first episode, first scene he's with Bucktooth. Tony asks over the phone cuz he's going to the Big Gay Night Out, is Chris gay? It's Anwar answering but he says no. Angie, Danuta, then second season Jal, I'm sure I'm forgetting more girls. JJ was obviously pretty fixated on girls, and Effy, then that

Two of Matty's favourite movies are Shortbus and My Own Private Idaho... Could still be a straight guy but I am guessing that was suppose to be a hint.
I think Nick and Freddie are heavily a fan thing. But Freddie/Cook could be seen to have sexual tension on the show. Maybe. And Nick could be seen to parallel Mini.
